DIY disable A/C auto on when defrost selected

With winter upon us I thought it would be alright to remind FFs that the A/C condenser cycles on when the temp selector is set to defrost. There used to be a nice DIY wich I used to disable mine. This allows me to decide if I want the A/C to be on or not when I select the defrost option.

Be aware that even if the green A/C light is not on the condenser cycles anyway in the defrost mode.....tricky tricky Honda!

Apart from using extra gas it also robs the engine of some go power especially when taking off from a complete stop.

The threads explaining how to do this are all there but the link with pics and instructions no longer works. ( FF search, google search etc to no avail).

Does anyone have a working link or pics they can post for this really useful mod?

As others have reported there is supposedly a way to disable this feature without disconnecting the plug using a series of knob selections but I can attest that this method does not work on GE8s.

Probably because YOUR GE8 doesn't have OEM (Honda) Navigation... like mine in the pic does.

If you do not mind, can you point out the plug in your picture for me?

Thank you

It's hard to see in that picture, but it's a white plug attached to the back of the air direction knob, just behind the defrost position.

Right above the power outlet sticking through the opening is the plug. There's a panel piece that covers that area, in my pic it's removed.

Thank you both of you for answering my question.
