DIY: My CRZ Engine Tray

Interesting to see how the panels turn out. I know some guys on another group I'm on are doing wet lay ups then letting it cure. After that they are spraying clear coat and wet sanding smooth.

Idk if that would be up for the job. I would think shoe goo would be a better alternative choice. I have a extra set of rear door panels I'm going to take apart and mess with before I send mine out to re upholster them.

interesting, looks good. the stuff that was original holding the panel kinda looks like that. i'm gonna try the hot glue first, if it doesnt work, i still got 3 more panels to do.

Woke up this morning and debagged my stuff. As you can see the damn peel ply left alot of wrinkles which was a pain in the ass to flat out. Had to use the dremel to sand them down quickly, but even that it wasn't flat enough. There wasn't enough resin to continue sanding as it I will sand down to the cf.
The carbide cutting wheel for the dremel is a heaven sent. Quickly grinds and cuts the epoxy down.
Laid down another thin resin coat and waiting for it to go tacky before I lay down a thicker coat. gonna try to go for 3-4 coats time permitting.
Need to experiment more on the vacuum bag. I won't use peel ply next time.

started sanding flat starting with the window control panel. its small and relatively flat so it was easy. next was the armrest. lotsa defects on this one. i'm gonna concentrate mostly on the visible part. a few corners where the cf didnt stick to. maybe ill grind those parts out and do laminate repair. lotsa pinholes too. i may need to do another layer of resin to fill in the pin holes. gonna take a break and take it slow. will continue in a few days.
