Front air dam mods

Has anyone experimented with modifying the lower front air dam, or possibly knows as the "lower air deflector"? IE the black plastic strip that hangs down ~1 inch below the visible, painted bumper.

This strip, plus the two deflectors ahead of the front wheels, play a role in channeling air under the car, plus building pressure up ahead of the car so that air flows over the car instead of under at high speeds. My idea is that the lower body is pretty "dirty" so keeping air away from it may reduce lift and improve FE. If you want to see a really obvious one, Google "2018 Chevrolet Colorado." In comparison the Fit's is so invisible, it's feasible to go 10 years owning the car and never realize it's there.

I know a lower deflector would be a poor idea in the snow, but thinking about experimenting in the summer. Looks to me like the Fit EV came with one as standard, so i imagine it has a non-zero effect on fuel economy. Since I can't seem to find one for sale - the EV was a lease-only model so i am not surprised - I am thinking I can build something myself. I'm thinking a 1/2 inch extension, taking the ground clearance from ~5 to ~4.5 inches. For both the center and wheel deflectors.
