I'm pretty happy with my K&N drop-in and the ram air intake scoop. After installing them, I could feel a little bit more pep in acceleration. I had thought about trying an AFE, but for the cost, it's a low priority for me.

i have used the AFE drop in filter ...and currently am running their dry cone on a prm short ram. the difference between them power wise is minimal. just how upgrading from stock filter to a drop in high flow element is like 1 notch up on pep...as is from drop in to a cone.

sound wise is another story. my intake got a bit louder with the drop in afe...but with the cone and metal short ram pipe...its really loud on wide open throttle. cool only if u like hearing (not feeling) vtec engage.

i prefer AFE as i like to bypass the oiling step/cost of K&N.

and to add spice to this, a cold air intake will add approximately 1% more power with every 12F drop in temperature. This is from my book written by Carroll Shelby (which I do not have handy as it's 3200km away).

Engineering Explained is a great channel. Jason knows his stuff.

Is that for all engines or NA ones? I would think forced induction would create more?

I deleted the resonator on my oem air box. so I have the best of both worlds:

-oem look
-cost effective drop in k&n filter
-rice boy sounds
-profit

Considering the book was from the 90's (I think) then the power claims would vary. On our tiny motors, a CAI is minimal gains. On a monster Vette......
