2nd & 3rd gens faster than 1st?

Hello. I have a 2007. I love driving the car, I bought it because it was a practical car but it was sporty and fun to drive. The only thing I don't like about it is it could use another 20-30 hp. Looking around the web it seems that the later gens have more power and accelerate more quickly. Of course, you can't always trust what you read on the web, so I thought I'd ask here. Are the next two gens quicker? I've also heard they are softer, and don't handle quite as well as the GD. True? Thanks.

Thanks for that, Pete. If that is accurate, the difference is noticeable. I've been down drag strips enough to know that you can definitely feel one and a half seconds. Anyone know why there's a difference... power, gearing, weight, combination of reasons... ?

Looks like 2015+ Fits have 130 hp up from 109, probably thanks to direct injection. They're also heavier, hence the hardly any faster 0-60, aside from the 2015 EX model. I wonder if that really is the fastest Fit?

The 2015+ Fits are also DOHC. OP, you're not missing out in the power/speed department by not owning a GE/GK. They're just as slow, lol.

If you get any Honda Fit expecting it to be anything other than slow, you'll be disappointed.

There is a certain joy in the Fit's practicality. Focus on that.

I'd like to call your attention to the many fit Sport entries in the table for 2nd gen. The 10 second ones are the AT. The 8.3 second ones are the MT. That is only about 0.5 sec faster than the GD fits, which is waaay less than the penalty from getting an automatic.

You can also see the CVT penalty is not nearly as bad.
