As you probably know, the dome light can be shut off when the doors are ajar, but the trunk light cannot. This always bothered me and I even considered replacing the light with the jdm part that includes an off switch, but I never have because life is busy etcetc.

But! I left the trunk open yesterday while playing whiffle ball with the daughter and guess what, the trunk light DOES shut off after a period. I am just guessing but perhaps 15-20 minutes.

So, seems like there is low risk of draining battery ...

 

I've left the trunk open multiple times, but it has only shut off for me once. Maybe it's linked to the dome switch? Haven't taken the time to figure it out yet.
