All cars are disposable... I think what was he meant to ask is if the FIT was going to be "orphaned" by Honda at a later date. Orphaned usually means the manufacturer stops production and support of a certain model. American car companies come to mind... Dodge Dart, Ford Falcon, Dodge Neon... etc. I cannot think of a single Honda product that has been orphaned by Honda except the Passport, which was made by Isuzu anyway.

If they orphan the FIT, someone at Honda needs their heads examined... or better yet, they should be fired!
True, virtually all modern cars are "disposable" but for a really nice rare one with higher performance or something special about it- one could store it and call it collectible or classic.

Orphaned cars are somewhat common. For Honda there are some examples of models that were relatively short lived- Del Sol, Insight

Parts will still be available for some time.

Honda's Jazz/Fit fills the subcompact segment of the market and is competitive so I don't think it will be going away anytime soon. In fact a Hybrid Fit would be a natural.(Honda knows this).

This is one approach that may not go over well, but ask your father if he is a Honda expert. That usually shuts people down, but also makes them angry. Okay, maybe you shouldn't say that.

The Fit/Jazz is Honda's best selling car worldwide. I doubt very much that parts availability will be a problem. Hundreds of thousands of the current generation of Fit have been made worldwide. Many of the parts used in other markets are interchangeable with the NA Fit.

Here's another consideration. I have a 1990 Accord EX, and I have no problem finding parts for it, yet that generation of Accord was only made for four years (most Honda model generations are four years).

Lastly, what other B-segment sub-compact does he recommend you buy? You won't find a better built sub-compact with all the features the Fit offers for the price.
