F***!
Not a fan...
Very disappointed that is seems Honda has decided to discontinue selling the Honda Fit in the USA.
Very Selfishly because I think it reduces the resale value of my vehicle, and people are more hesitant to buy a vehicle they don't see being sold and produced in their market.
But mostly because I think the Fit was one of the best small hatchback vehicles available.
I know the thinking and maybe even the reality is that Americans like SUV's and larger vehicles.
But think it boils down to profit margins. Far less on a Honda Fit, than even an HRV, or Civic.
Makes me consider buying a new vehicle, at least one being produced and sold in the USA.

Until Honda explicitly says it's never coming to the states take what you read for what it's worth. All they've committed to is they won't speak on their American plans yet. Emphasis on yet. Maybe it's never coming, maybe they'll have to be an American spec like the 2nd gen, who knows.
My memory is fuzzy as I get older, but is the Tokyo Auto Show the last one for the year? I thought there was an LA Show around November or December. Perhaps they are not releasing any information until the relevant market's exhibit/show.
Hot off the press. If the new gen. Fit makes it here, the article suggests it won't be like any of the models just unveiled.

It won't take that much imagination to see what the Fit will be if it lands here. Here is the thought process
1) They'll need some more nose crumple zone a la GE
2) At that point making the nose more upright and SUVish is a no-brainer since that's what sells
3) It becomes the new HRV or vice versa (do they really want to do a full redesign of a Fit-based crossover that has an entirely different body and exterior?)
4) It looks more or less like the crossturd except with the nose of a Kia Soul or Hyundai Venue
From what's being said - it does seem like Honda either is weighing US press reaction (which is overwhelmingly "why don't we get this) or they have some idea but the plan was to release the US-modded one later.
Will be interesting to see if Japan gets an AWD version ... the US definitely will (if it replaces the HRV)

The Honda Fit has lead the American sub compact segment since it's inception. Honda Auto has always had a leading entrant into the subcompact category since they came to the states in the mid 70's. The Honda Fit sales were up nearly 30% in q3 of 2019 compared to q3 of 2018. They are second in the US subcompact segment slightly behind Ford Fiesta, which also has a true sports car model. I don't beleive that they are ready to concede their leadership in this segment. It makes very little sense to me.
They will wait on the announcement and then back it up with a moderate to large ad campaign directed at younger and first time new car buyers with financing incentives.
I'd be willing to bet on it.
