Rendered Jazz TypeR and pontification

It's click bait at best, but still a fair few renders.

The renders look good, but there's no market - none - for this in the US right now. With gas at $2.50 and carmakers falling over themselves with excess capacity, nobody* is buying these little cars.

In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the proliferation of Youtube automobile care instruction is even having an impact -- helping young buyers be comfy with buying a 5 or 10 year old car that's bigger or more luxury, with the confidence that they don't "need" a new car.

*obviously not literally nobody. But not enough. Here's monthly Fit sales. Carmakers are increasingly canning any mass market cars selling <50k/year, and even above that it's a judgement call of that's the "best" use of production capacity. Honda Fit US car sales figures The HR-V is selling, like, 3-4x this much.

Looks great!!

Yeah I don’t buy new cars so I’m not helping with the manual and small car statistics.

I will admit that I clicked on that immediately after seeing it a few days ago in my feed. It is a very nice rendering, but I am getting tired of these Fit Type Rs reported on "news" websites because my heart jumps at the thought of it. Then, like others have mentioned, I am hit with the realization that it will never happen.

After five years of Fit ownership, which I have loved every minute of, I also have to admit that my eye is starting to wander to the peppier models in Honda's line up like the Civic Type R. It would be interesting to see more horsepower in a small car like the Fit which is I guess why people create these renderings. I would just prefer to see it on an artist's webpage or something.

You never know. Toyota is releasing a performance carolla in 2023 and theres a performance awd yarris hitting euro/jdm markets in 2021.. It could be a paradigm shift. People may be tired of having their sport utility vans smoked by econoboxes...
