Lowering springs while under warranty

Hey Guys,

After purchasing my '16 Fit a month ago, I've started researching a few mods.
One of them is a set of RS-R "Down" springs for my Fit, as well as a rear lower brace and a front lower brace.
Considering the mods are relatively basic and similar to stock, I'd assume I'd be fine....but just want to be sure.
After speaking with Honda, they do not install any components as they are not OEM.
Has anyone had issues in the past? Anything I should consider or avoid when doing these things?

Btw, I'm a 40something accountant who's not interested in racing...just some cool mods to help enjoy the car a bit more.

thanks in advance!

I bought my car used and out of warranty, but I've heard several people on the forum saying Honda would have to prove the modification caused the failure in whatever problem you have to deny you warranty coverage. Like, if you lowered your car and the fuel injectors failed at 3k miles, you would still be covered, but if you put on aftermarket shocks and the shocks went bad they wouldn't do anything to help. Are you still in warranty with a 2016? If it's a dealer package extended warranty you might want to look at the fine print, they may not be the same terms as the original factory protection.

I haven't heard of anyone causing damage to their car with suspension mods, but you might consider some firmer shocks to go with lowering springs, just to have them better matched to the higher spring rate. Not required, but the Konis are relatively cheap, and if you don't have to do the same labor twice to install them, it might be worth the extra cost.

If you haven't read up on the rear sway bars, that's the first thing I would do. Dramatic improvement in feel and reduction in understeer, with no real drawbacks.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I'm still under warranty until Oct 2023 or 130kms. The car is currently at 63kms so roughly 3 years to go.

Sounds good, I'll do more research on shock upgrades while I have everything apart. I am also very interested in the rear sway bar. So many positive reviews of them!

cheers!
