Manual transmission chatter when braking

I hope someone can help me. I have a 2011 Honda fit manual and when I’m decelerating while in gear, there’s chatter from what I believe coming from the transmission. As soon as I take it out of gear, its gone. No sound when accelerating. It has also been getting louder throughout the months. Any idea of what the problem may be?

Are you having difficulty shifting?

My theory is that it might be the clutch slipping on the flywheel. It could be because of a weak pressure plate or your clutch plate is wearing out. Try getting your car to roll from a higher gear (ie 4/5th); if it rolls then your clutch plate might be the problem.

I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for your reply. After watching countless videos and reading related posts and articles, I think something in my clutch is going bad, which soynds right since im almost at 100000 miles. Rockauto has clutch kits that have the plate, clutch and release bearing for around $170. Thanks again.

I bought the Exedy OEM clutch kit when I replaced mine because the reviews were really good for the company. Hopefully you have access to a car lift; makes the job a whole lot easier.
