Why would you wear the clutch? If you know how to shift/downshift, you won't put that much wear on the clutch. I have a V6 Accord with 200k km still on the original clutch...

Well, you have to press the clutch pedal don't you?
And doing so would cause additional movement (AKA wear) of the release bearing etc.

In Los Angeles, the traffic sucks. Reason I sold my manual 2009. Now I have an auto 2015 and it’s way better. The manual was more fun, but not fun at all in traffic lol

Manual here - it gets the most out of this little engine.
The person who sold me my car recalled driving a GE Fit with the auto, and being surprised by how unresponsive the engine/transmission was.
It helps that the Fit has none of the atrocious rev-hang that a lot of modern econobox manual cars have (heck, even the WRX has it bad).

I'm fine with an auto on bigger, heavier, more utilitarian cars...if they're a traditional slush box and not a CVT.

For small cars...especially underpowered and/or sporty ones...manual is the way.

I agree with this. We got our 2013 Fit Base w/ 5 speed stick, cuz I knew 117 HP would be s l o w with an automatic. I do enjoy going thru the gears when I can (like getting on fwy) but hate getting stuck in traffic. We have 92,000 on the Fit now and it has been pretty reliable.

Wanted a small car with manual tranny to tow behind my RV. Looked at Honda because I've had a few and like the reliability. Got a decent deal on a 2012 with the 5spd and low miles.
It is fun to drive too.

Learnt to heal toe downshift, double clutch, rev match and so on.Many driving techniques you can do to protect the clutch and drive train. If you wear down the clutch learn to change it yourslef not too hard.

Just to chime in my two cents. I have owned several cars over the years, both manuals and automatics. I enjoy manuals in certain cases. Rush hour traffic, not so much. I can totally appreciate those who prefer a manual.

That said, I always felt that if someone would make an automatic that did what I want, when I want, almost intuitively, then I would prefer the automatic. All automatics I've driven failed to varying degrees. That is, until I got my 2018 Fit w/CVT. This is the closest I've ever had to an automatic behaving the way I expect it to in varying conditions. When I'm just cruising around, or in heavy traffic, it keeps the RPMs low and the entire experience is quite smooth. If I want to drive more "enthusiastically", sport mode does a great job at keeping the RPMs high and the engine responsive. And if I want exact control, the paddle shifters respond quickly, and the shifts are satisfying. If I'm going down hill and start to get on the brakes, the CVT brings the RPMs up automatically for engine braking.

All in all I'm extremely pleased with the behavior of the CVT. With only 28k miles, I can't speak to the reliability yet. Time will tell. I highly recommend trying the CVT before you write it off entirely. It's not for everyone, and all CVTs are not equal.

After all, why keep trying to cram 6, 8, or even 10 gears into an automatic, when you can just have ALL the gear ratios. :-)

We could do a poll on how many Fit owners made the purchase based on the highly seductive engine note.

I get what you mean, but I think everybody understand what I mean, as well.
