Just thought I would show you guys a pic of my daughter's 2021 hybrid fit. I haven't gotten to drive it yet, but a lot is different from the third generation fit. Mostly it's electronics, like the automatic headlight dimmer (it sees a car in front so it dims the high beams to normal lights) to an electronic parking brake. Anyway, this is pretty much the top model with all the bells and whistles.
What I like are the four wheel disc brakes. They discontinued the RS model, so this is what we get now. I'll give it a drive maybe tomorrow and let you guys know my thoughts. I've seen it started up, and all the gauges are electronic, which is just not me. You get the Honda startup sequence, and I'm just not feeling it.
One thing I will say is that the front end isn't as ghastly as I originally thought. Yeah, it's square, but... mehh... not ghastly, but not that bad.
Yeah I have a GD, GE, and GK Fit and I really love the good old fashioned interiors of the GD and GE more than the GK.
Do post some interior pics as well, I did like the simplicity of the dash design on theae 2021+ models on the press pictures.
Yeah, I'll post a youtube video of trying to get the thing started and what not. And yes, there will be interior stuff. I have no idea what you mean by GD, GE, and GK because that's not how the JDM fits are marketed as. You got your really base model which are fleet cars, base model sold to the general public, and then lots of upgrades.
I'm not really up on the whole American scene, so I just learned today that you guys don't get the 4th generation, so I took a pic.

Sorry, GD, GE and GK are the chassis codes for the three previous generations.
1st gen = GD2nd gen = GE3rd gen = GK4th gen = ???
Over here in the US we have had two trims for the first two generations, only Base and Sport. Both base and Sport had the 1.5L VTEC engines. The Sport was the top of the line.
The 3rd generation we had LX, Sport, EX and EX-L (meaning 'leather') in that order.
The 4th generation..... well you know we ain't getting that with everyone and their grandma wanting a three row SUV or a truck lol.
I quite enjoy the look of the 4th gen. It seems they took some inspiration from the 2nd gen imo. If only it was coming to North America with a manual. Definitely keep posting about it though, we need more info around here on the 4th gens
No interior pics yet (it is my daughter's car, and she doesn't want me taking pics unless it's pristine), but I did take it for a drive. Umm... good lord, but it's a train wreck! The actual car is nice and the hybrid system seems to be much more powerful than my old third gen fit. The problem is that it has all the disadvantages of a driverless car with none of the advantages - i.e. you still have to drive it. It has a cruise control that will speed up or slow down based upon how fast the car in front of you is going, and how fast you've set the top speed. That's cool. It will also automatically brake if the car in front of you is too close for the speed you're doing. That's.... you be the judge. The nagging bit is that it bongs about once a minute. If you're the type of driver who sits with your thumb up your butt at a stop light, it will bong and tell you that the car in front of you has moved forward (it also does this in a drive thru) so you might want to stop holding up traffic. If you get to close to the shoulder, it will bong and literally move the steering wheel so you're back in the middle of the lane. If you are on the freeway and approaching a merging lane, it will bong and warn you to be careful. It tells you how fast the speed limit is on the road you're on, and glow red if you're exceeding the speed limit.
One cool thing is that if there's a speed camera ahead, it will automatically slow you down to the speed of the road you're on. That seems pretty cool to me, but... it's got more assists than my wife in the passenger seat!
Woo thanks for the interior video! The dash screen is tiny lol, definitely designed for automatic transmission. I really like the view out the front. The arrangement with the passenger mirror behind the b pillar is a bit cramped, but I guess that's the trade off for the view. Much smaller blind spot over all compared to my GK. Interior looks very clean, much less boy racer, much more grown up.
I made a mistake because that particular version is called a crosstar. Yes, it's definitely grown up, but that just means it's no longer a fit. The badge says it's a fit, the interior is the same size, the seats do all the same things that I love about my fit, but it's now about 25k USD out the door once taxes and everything is included. That, and as I previously posted, it's like all that extra money went into buying a driving instructor. So really, it's the same story here as it is in the states. They stopped selling the fit.

As someone who sells cars for a living. I actually do get mix reactions about all of the modern safety stuff from people who have never experienced it. Disclaimer: I sell Kias. I haven't driven new new Hondas, the last I drove was a 2019 Accord. I'm not a fan of the Lane Keep and auto-cruise, Honda's implantation is very meh. But that's normal for Honda and tech heh. (considering the 2nd gen Fit's Bluetooth, can't play music over it)
Kia's is quite good IMO. Lane keep is really subtle until you really do leave your lane, then it gets a bit mad, but if you are trying to avoid an accident it really doesn't fight you at all. Just gets mad, but lets you do what you need to.
With the radar cruise control, you should be able to set the distance to the car in front of you.
That being said I'm not sure with other brands (I'm sure it's the same) but at least with Kias; you can turn on and off nearly every single safety feature. There's an easy single button to turn on or off lane keep. But you can go father and even turn off auto braking and such if you really really wanted to.
I know they're trying to get to having a driverless car, and I wouldn't mind that for a daily "driver". The problem is that we're not there yet, so people are being asked to pay for the R&D. Since it's my daughter's car, and she's paying for it, I'm not complaining yet... Some of it is good, but I see where it's all going. I'm old enough to remember the implementation of seat belt laws. Hell, I remember as a high school kid, my friends and I got pulled over for obvious drunk driving in a car one of my friend's had stolen from his dad for the night. We put our beers under the seat, but the cop was having none of that. He poured all of our beer out on the street and told us to drive home and sleep it off! If you can imagine the nerve!!!!
Hopefully, my next new car will have all of this worked out so I can sit down, the door will close automatically, and I'll tell it "drive me to work!" and then I can let my electronic chauffeur deal with rush hour traffic. Until then, it's mostly useless.
