Question about non OEM parts
Question about non OEM parts
hi - newbie here but proud original owner of a 2012 Fit with almost 170,000 miles!! Still running strong but needs a little TLC - specifically new front compliance bushings and Sway Bar links - already a little pissed that I have to replace the entire lower control arm/ball joint assembly as they don't sell separate compliance bushings, unless anyone knows where I can get just new bushings - but if I have to replace the whole thing, I'm looking to go with non-OEM parts because going OEM is SPENSIVE!! So, asking my fellow fit owners if they've used any other makers of parts and if they are any good, what are the best non-OEM makers - I've heard good things about MOOG if anyone has had any experience with their parts - and of course if anyone knows where I could just get the compliance bushings if possible - any info would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!
I got a LCA from Canadian Tire, the worst parts store in Canada for my GD3 fit and it’s been pretty solid! Lifetime warranty too. It’s not the biggest job in the world to do if you have access to a lift and a ball joint separator. The moog part was way more expensive and with shipping, nearly = in price to OEM. I changed the sway bar links for OEM. They do have plastic bushings but they have held up fine for at least 4-5 years now on my neighbourhood streets with insigne potholes.
the way I look at it is that my car is 15 years old…OEM parts will probably last 7-10 years and aftermarket about 4-7 years at best. One thing I will never get aftermarket are engine mounts. Those are trash, will transmit more vibes and probably end up cracking early, and damaging other parts of the engine. Plus some are a real beeotch to change.

I had to have my front end parts on my 2012 Sport replaced June 8 at 198,650 miles. Hit a bad spot in the road and it knocked pieces off one of the dry-rotted bushings.
We used our local tire shop. Cost was $82.50 each for 2 "Import Direct Chassis Stabilizer Bar Link Kits" plus $73.50 labor, total cost = $238.50. Considering the age & miles on my car, we were happy with that. They said we really should've had this done when we had the struts replaced a year ago.

I’m sure OE wasn’t used on my car but I wouldn’t install them myself. Great suggestion for anyone who does their own work. 👍🏻
