Clutch kit recommendations

Hello,

so my previously installed Excedy clutch is starting to slip after about 9 years and 65K miles. So looking at throwout bearing prices, I’m thinking of just getting a kit. Rockauto and Amazon no longer have the Excedy kit but I see one by Perfection clutches for cheap on Rockauto.

so I have the choice between Perfection for 110$, LUK for 200$ and Excedy for 200$. Anyone have any experience with these kits? I’m thinking that for 110$, the throwout and pilot bearings can’t be very good quality. I could also keep the pressure plate and change only the disk with OEM. For about 220$.

my car is 2007 Honda Fit sport.

Are OEM bearings not an option? I think the common opinion among owners is that nothing really beats OE.

You are right that OEM bearings are probably better but going OE would be probably 50$ for the throwout and 20$ for the pilot bearing. Nearly 100$ for not daring to use the included bearings in the kit…

im considering also changing the flywheel and might go OEM for that too soit would be 200 for the flywheel 200 for the friction disk 200 for the pressure plate… plus 70 for the throw out and and pilot bearings or les than 300 for all that minus the flywheel. This car is a daily driver so as long as these bearings aren’t total crap I think I should be good. That’s why I’m hesitant to get a 100$ kit. I mean 100$ for disk and pressure plate is already a banging deal so I’m guessing those bearings must be pretty average.

really, rather than get an OE bearing, I’d rather get SKF. They would probably be about the same price. Then again, this is not a Porsche, just my daily ride which I don’t track or race (but I do dog it on the highway and I’m a spirited driver).

Yeah it sounds like that adds up quick. SFK bearings would be primo.

I installed the LUK 619308900 kit about two years ago, it was (and still is, here) under $100. No issues so far. Not sure who made their bearings, but TBH for a 16-20 year old econobox I'd just go with that. Honda probably isn't making their own bearings anyway so there's a decent chance they're from the same supplier, there aren't that many companies making actual bearings.

But how are you onto the third clutch under 100k km? That's way too quick to be going through clutches.

thanks for the info! I bought the car used at 70k km and the pesky input shaft bearing was bad so I installed an exedy clutch at about 80k km. I am now over 180k km so my clutch has served me fairly well. I really dog it and tend to accelerate hard. I also do a lot of stop and go in the city.

it could also be that my flywheel is bad or that my rear main seal is leaking on the flywheel.
