Headlights and tail lights on JDM Fit
Headlights and tail lights on JDM Fit
I recently bought a 2008 Fit imported from Japan. It's in good shape with only about 44,000 km on it. When I turn on the ignition, both the headlights and tail lights come on regardless of the setting on the headlight switch. It doesn't matter if the headlights are set to off, fog lights or full on, I get the same headlights and tail lights on all the time. The only thing I can adjust is high beams. I tried changing the headlight relay in the fuse box, but got the same result. Is this normal?
The one area it is causing me some aggravation is the Honda Internavi navigation/audio system. As soon as I turn on the ignition, the Internavi system senses the headlights are on and goes to the dark and dimmer mode on the screen for night time viewing. It makes it damn near impossible to read on a sunny day. If the key is in and paritally turned to turn on the electrical systems then the Internavi screen is white and bright. If I leave the key there and adjust the headlight setting to on, then the Internavi senses headlights on and goes dark.
The importer/dealer in the Vancouver area that I bought the car from tells me this is normal, but I'm having a hard time believing it. I'm wondering if there is something wrong electrically, but I'm not sure what.
