The short supply is only part of the reason for the markups on Fits. The MSRP is pocket change over dealer cost (invoice), and many dealerships feel the need to make some kind of actual profit on the vehicle. Combine the two factors, and you see what seems to be absurd markups. Here's a car with few options, doesn't come with floormats, etc. Many dealers have come up with a scant $1000-markup that "throws in" things like mats, cargo tray and net, and other things so that they can achieve a profit.
