tick tick sound while "cold"

well.. it has been cold here recently and every morning when i start my fit.. i hear tick tick tick (fast beat about 2-3 time every second).. i think it is "valve" sound.. once the car warms up ... it disappears...

is it normal?

Wrong sub forum but.... If it only ticks at idle it's the injectors. when you rev it up does it go away at higher rpm? Lifter tick doesn't care what rpm you are at. I've heard my share of bad or un oiled lifters. I also think that the SOHC has more noise than DOHC. That may just be my opinion though.

Mine does that tick when it's cold to. I don't think it's a big deal. is this your first honda?

I'm thinking that it's lack of oiling. If the engine is cold, the oil is thicker and untill the engien warms up, the oil won't lubricate as much. Now, 4 cylinder Honda's are naturally noisey. it has to do with the valve train setup and the injectors like MarkB said. Regardless, it's not important and not a serious issue. If you want, try puting a lighter oil in and see if it goes away.

I think the big test is if it goes away when you rev it. Cars will always make some sort of sound. Put an intake and exhaust on the car and you wont hear it anymore
