"Check Fuel Cap" error - WTF?
I keep getting a "Check Fuel Cap" error on my odometer. I checked my fuel cap and it appears fine. How do I fix this flashing alert?
The only thing I did to my car recently was had the Supplemental Restraint System reprogrammed (recall) at Honda last week. Could that have caused it?

When I picked mine up from the dealer they told me about a hundred times that you will ge that error if you don't tighten your cap so that it clicks about 2-3 times.
Other than that, I am not sure what is happening with your fit.

Could just be a bad sensor.
Did you give the gas cap a good look over for anything that could cause a pressure leak? Maybe the seal is warped or cracked? I guess it all depends on how you define "checked."
Otherwise, I guess you can complain to the dealer and see what they can do for you.

Mine came on two weeks ago and went out in 3 days if you read the manual itll say it takes a few days.... strange thing is it came on all of a sudden after 6 days i filled it up, and i didnt even touch the cap for since i filled it up...
Ive done some research, seems to affect many Hondas from Civic to Ridgeline.... Id say give it a few days at most a week (after you tighten the cap of course), if it still dont go out then take it to the dealer

it just come up the second time after owning the car for 11 months. This time Engine light come up too. I don't think it has any relationship to the Supplemental Restraint System reprogrammed (recall) because it happens many times to my 98 honda accord too (although it only shows engine light but it's the same error).
What I have been notice is that it seems to come up AFTER I over refuel (say 38L out of the 40L tank), or refuel after I nearly use up all the tank...left with 2-3L (the gas gun stop @ 37-38L).
I can't recall if what I did last time to have the Fuel cap light on but it just don't come up right away after refueling but 2-3 days afterwards

Any car with OBDII will have a fuel cap sensor and if it is not fully tightened it will throw a code. Some cars will erase the code some will not and will have to be cleared by a shop with an OBDII code scanner.
