900 miles and counting!

Well, according to the owners manual. The break in period is from 600-1000 miles. I've been babying the car since I got it. I hit 900 miles yesterday. And figure id have a little fun and give it the PROPER break in.

Before, I didn't let it go above 3000rpm. Last night. I used the paddles from a complete stop till about 70mph... going through first, second, third, fourth. redlining it. wow this car is PEPPY!! :-)

I love the FIT even more now... Now that my car is broken into... I hope to get better gas mileage! just filled it up yesterday around 29mpg... I drive city/hwy.

Granted I don't HAVE my fit yet, I have never noticed a difference when running a higher octane then recommended and most of the time you actually will loose power. The octane rating is the fuels resistance to detonation, and the fit and other cars are designed to run on a certain kind of fuel and they are tuned for those parameters. The fits engine has no need for a higher octane fuel and really while its only a few cents you are wasting that money.

Personally I wish they would do away with mid grade, it seems that any more a car has to run on 87 OR 93 you rarely see a car that actually needs 89. Even if the gas companies did do that and it would cut down on costs and storage for two fuels as apposed to three we all know that money would just be diverted into the CEO's coffers.
