New to Shifting

Hello,
I have a new fit and have been playing around with the paddle shifters. I have little experience driving manual, and even less using AT shifters.
Can I keep the gas down constantly while shifting in S mode, or should I be letting go of the gas for each gear shift? Is either way bad for the engine/tranny?
Thanks.

-Eric

I keep my foot on the gas when I shift (up and sometimes down). I don't know if it's bad for the car in anyway, but I would think it wouldn't be a problem.

I'll sometimes downshift to 3rd if I need to briefly slow down a little (very rarely to 2nd if I need to slow down a LOT) and in that case, I'm not going to have my foot on the accelerator.

Im always on the gas while shifting up..When down shifting to a stop i dont usually use the gas, but when i know im coming to a stop i dont even shift because when your car stops in automaticly put you in first. While on a spirited drive through a nice road sometimes im in 3rd floor it and down shift to 2nd and ride it to redline ...Not often though!
