MT Fuel Economy Poll

Not necessarily. In warm weather with no AC and no wind I usually get 45-47 on a calibrated scangauge. If this person was going by the extremely optimistic onboard fuel economy meter on the 09+ Fits it probably matches up.
Also due to the looooong fuel filler tube in the Fit, fast pumps usually shut off too soon, causing you to think you needed less fuel to fill up than actual. I generally fit at least 2 more gallons in after the pump shuts off by filling as slowly as possible.

On an extended (two day) test drive of a used 2012 Sport 5MT I got about 30 with a lot of spirited driving. Once I backed it off to my real driving style (fairly relaxed with occasional open throttle) I ran through half a tank at a (pump calculated) 34.9mpg. This was 90% city
I have to imagine if this was an American car the EPA would have rated it more like 33/38/35
This was enough to convince me to pull the trigger on one, but a new one since they wanted $15,900 for it and I only paid $16,650 for my new '13

Got my car now first full tank 371 miles and I got 36.5mpg. 70% highway 30% city.
Second and third tanks 33.2 and 33.6 all highway running the wipers driving through rain at 75-80mph. All pump numbers not the gauge, but the gauge is within 1mpg so far.
On the fourth tank right now at 167 miles just about 2/3 tank left and showing 39.4 on the gauge. Driving 65-70 the whole tank

from all the previous cars that i had, this car is the one with the very good
MPG, i know other people say this car doesn't get good mpg, but from my experience driving/owning its the car that has given me the best mpg
of course if you compare it to toyota prius-c, the c will win hands down
but that car is a hybrid
the only thing that i don't like is the seats, yes it is not comfortable for long driving...

On my 2nd tank of gas. I just took a short trip, 15 miles, each way. 20% around town, with lots of stops, and 80% between towns at 45-50 mph.
Avg. for trip, 36.0 mpg. I haven't raised tire pressures at all, or done any mods. When I try 35 psi in tires, it should help.
Not mpg. related, but I had to drive to a friends house to install a ceiling fan, and was able to fit a 6 1/2 ' step ladder in the back, with drivers seat forward!

Mine is starting to climb back up was around 31 mpg during the winter now has increased to 32 mpg combined. Rather then reset the meter I keep it going between oil changes to get the overall mileage.

I've got just over 2000 miles on my Fit and have been very pleased with my gas mileage. The best I got was 38 and the worst 35 mpg's. That is with combination city and hwy driving. I have a base MT. I calculated my mileage the old fashion way and found about a 1 to 1.5 mile discrepancy between the mileage calculator and actual mileage. Yesterday I filled up at a station right off the interstate and drove 50 miles at 65 and 60 mph ( the speed limit). The mileage calculator told me I was getting 45 mpg's. I couldn't be happier. I have no doubt that I will average around 40 mpg's on a long trip running between 70 to 80 mph.

just checking in..
so my original owner 09 mt has hit 60k. Over the lifetime of the vehicle, it has been over 40mpg as calculated from fillups and sanity checked from the dash. I commute a 100 miles a day through chicago rushout, so my miles are far from ideal. I am currently at 41mpg but I am keeping my tire pressure much lower ideal because its a much more comfortable ride. The highest so far for 10k ranges has been 44.6.
Its kinda cool, for my driving needs, I am above what I could accomplish with a hybrid and my needs are above what an EV could accomplish. This has really been idealic.

just short of 4000 miles and 4 months of ownership. last 4 tanks have been right around 39. that's why i bought this little thing, can't say i am disapointed ! smaller and no awd, but really saves at the pump compared to the awd element i had.

i think for most getting 38 plus on a regular basis is more down to the speed in your daily drive. mpg wise this car likes 45-60 mph. that is most of my long commute to work.
i don't do the hypermile stuff at all. 70 plus on two road trips to chicago saw much less mpg
5spd manual also

samcl9- One easy way to get good mileage is to not live in San Francisco. Another easy way is to not have an automatic. Once those are solved, get a ScanGauge or an UltraGauge so you can see how everything affects your mileage.
Cities in general aren't great for mileage because there are too many unpredictable things that can happen in traffic- any time spent touching your brakes is bad for mileage. Places like San Francisco with lots of elevation change and not much land multiply the problems. Hills actually help mileage if they're gentle and you don't have to stop at the bottom.
A horrible tank for me is anything below 40mpg. Since I blocked the lower grille I've been reliably getting over 50.
