Two normal keyless entry keys.

Funny as today we stopped in to ask about this. My b/f and I got seasons passes to Canada's Wonderland. We don't want to rent lockers (ridiculous price) so we asked about a valet key or something we can get wet. They gave us the same key 'Fitn in' described for $15cnd. They said they usually use them for making keys for when people lock their keys in the car. We're going to drill out one leg of the 'H' to put a ring in it, and hide the real key in the car (will make a lockbox, 'cause we're paranoid). Then my b/f will just keep the keys pinned inside his swim trunks.

As they explained it, normally a valet key won't let you open the gas tank (if you have a locking gas caps), open the trunk or open the glove box. Seeing as these don't apply to the Fit, a 'Valet' key might as well be a normal key.

I need to get a key that will open only the door (so I can get it wet).

1) Do I have to get this from the dealer or can I have it made at a hardware store?

2) I have a sport model with alarm - will my alarm go off if I unlock the doors with this plain key?

That being said, I wonder if there's any reason to believe we need to go to a Honda dealer for a door-only key? I would think Ace Hardware or Home Depot could make one of those, am I wrong? The key is sort of funky, with its solid center blade, so maybe it wouldn't be possible. Maybe it's additional dollars for the dealership.
Thanks again,

Unless the place you go can laser cut keys, no. Youll probably have to go to an actual locksmith.

I was told by my salesperson that most good locksmith shops can make a replacement key for the Fit, and make it cheaper than the dealer, but it wouldn't be able to do the remote entry stuff. I don't know how true this is.

If you're looking to make one waterproof, I suppose you could just open up your normal key and pop out the remote entry module. The chip inside looks to be sealed up pretty well.

I got two of the standard ones with the buttons and chip. My sales guy said that there was going to be 3. I'm not overly concerned about the 3rd one. I already got free floor mats out of them

i got 2 keyless entry keys. see the thing with them is you need a really small key ring to attach it to a normal size key ring.
