Fit Key, NEw Alarm
Fit Key, NEw Alarm
Well, I just got my new alarm installed with remote start. It comes with the remote. I no longer need the OEM Key FOB. Can I JUST make a copy of the key, say at home depot or something? Or do I need to go to the dealer for it?
I just need a key to start the engine.. the viper alarm has the keyless entry on it.
Any ideas?

I think the OEM key has the immobilizer in it so you will need it to start your car or in the proximity...
my suggestion, go to Honda, get a new key, but the base model one if you don't like the fob on the key itself. I haven't gotten my fit yet, but do they give you the chip for the immobilizer key? So you can make copies easier and cheaper?

They don't seel the immobilizer piece by itself.
I just purchased a base model Fit and it DOES have the immobilizer. So a base model Fit key would work for your particular application.
Me too, I have a Base key which works in my Sport.
If the alarm installing company used a 556H bypass module, then he doesn't need a key with the chip inside anymore.
The bypass module copies the original chip signal while being programmed, and from then on reproduces the chip signal anytime the remote start is activated.
So, yes, if Lowes or Home Depot can make that style key, then it would work without the chip.
