New to the Fit; trading in my '06 Civic

Well, whenever the dealer wants to stop playing price games about my fully loaded EX non-navi, I'll be getting a NBP Fit Sport MT, no options. It'll be my first manual car, though I do have some experience driving a manual; I'll manage somehow :P

These are the mods that I'm planning to add:
(notice I'm not buying any options from the dealer because they're cheaper at hondapartsdeals.com and collegehillshonda.com)
Scangauge II
wheel locks
all-season floor mats
tint
dead pedal
replacement rear view mirror with built-in maplights
and at some point in time the JDM armrest

The dealer is asking 16350 for my fully loaded (HFP and everything) 06 EX non-navi. He says the HFP kit adds no value and the HFP rims add very little. Bull****, right? The rims and kit cost together $2,200! Here's what i've figured to be a good price for my EX.

new EX no options = $20,105
used 06 EX no options, trade-in value = $16,230
16230/20105 = .8 or 80%
all the options on my car added up (retail price) = $3,366
so (20105+3366)*0.8 = my cars true trade-in value = $18,776.80
I'm asking $18,500 for trade-in.
That's not even counting the $1750 worth of the remainder of my tire and wheel warranty, which, in my book (fig.), doesn't depreciate except for the years used.

(btw, the car was a gift from my dad for my 18th birthday. He knew what car I wanted and added a lot of options without my knowing.)

I haven't bought the Fit yet, but when I was in there, he handed me a sheet with the expenses for the fit on there.
locks, stripe, et al. = $328
document fee = $349 (supposedly non-negotiable)
^ Now that's some Grade A bulls**t.

Wish me luck!

So what you are basically wanting to do is to trade your 06 car straight across for the new 07 Fit Sport? Good luck to ya but I don't think it's gonna happen.

He's also pretty right about the aftermarket (or HFP) wheels/tires. Your best bet for those would be to get stock replacement wheels/tires for your trade in and then sell the old ones outright.

Have fun and hope it all works out for ya

Yeah dude good luck getting what you want out of your trade in vehicle. I blue booked my trade before i went to the dealership and bought my Fit. I ended up getting 3 grand under what i could of got if i was to sell it out myself. From my experience i bet the give ya 15K$ for your Civic.

Yeah if you have patience and a ride alternative I'd put the car on autotrader.com and sell it yourself. I'd be surprised if a dealer ever gave you what you could get selling it privately.

The salesman originally told me 15,800, before I got him to bump it up to 16,350. What bugs me is the retail value (a la kbb.com) of an '06 EX with NO extra options is 20,925. There's no way I'm going to let them get a $5,000 profit. I'll see what Carmax appraises my EX at and go from there.

That'd be nice, but the HFP rims were dealer installed. I'd imagine I'd lose money if I were to buy EX rims+tires and sell the HFP rims separately.
