Thumbs up What's the most fuel you put in a tank

Most I've put in is 12.269.

That's going about 21 miles after the low fuel light came on and then filling up to the brim!

10.8gal. I always drive my car about 20-40miles after the fuel light comes on.
For some reason I noticed my fuel light comes on a lot lower then it use to when I first bought my car. Ive almost hit E once and the light wasnt even on. Just when I was going to take a pic of it and post the light popped on.

Go figure.

You guys know that filling it up (like 3-4 gas pump clicks) is not necessarily a good thing. The tank capacity is rated at 10.8 gallons. Sure you can squeeze more gas into that thing, but where all does it go? For starters, all the extra fuel pushes into the EVAP system, charcoal canister, even up into the filler neck. Overtime, it will start to ruin the EVAP system, and maybe even the seals that connect the filler pipe to the tank. One click is good enough for me. I usually fill my tank when its 6.5 to 7 gallons empty (1/3 tank full). I like to leave enough gas in the tank to cool the fuel pump.

Very true nexus. You do not want to overfill. It is actually against the law in California as far as I know and can be damaging to the car. The most I have filled was 9.8 also.

Just filled mine up this morning after having driven it for over two weeks and a few days since last fill up. God I love being 2 miles from home to work! Anyway, I just fill up until it stops and then I put in five more cents worth. I never fill it up to the rim because of ditto to the above post.

I find it amusing that that's legal but having an intake on your car is not (at least if you get caught in the visual inspections they have)

Light came on and I drove 5 more miles home. Morning came and I drove 37 more miles to my gf's house. Went to the gas station, just stuck the nozzle in and waited for the "I'm done" click. 10.5 gallons. No extra clicks.

How do you get more than the 10.9 gallon capacity? O.o

Or maybe that gas station's crooked and is charging you guys for more gallons than it's putting in!

Ive never done an extra click after the pump shuts off. Thats just how much Ive put in. Put in 10.3gal yesterday. When I drive my car low, I drive her LOW.

I mean, it aint no 12 gallons but its deff a lot.

I noticed my gas light comes on later now? I use to be able to drive around 40miles after the light comes on. Now I can only get around 20miles. The needle looks a lot lower at times when it comes on also. I remember one time the needle was on E actually and the light wasnt on. That was the day I put 10.8gal in the tank.
