Correct. That's the smart key system (Honda calls theirs the keyless entry system). It's been available in the current JDM Fit and other models for sometime. In fact, you can get that in just about any car in Japan.

keyless+2008vs2010

I'm a valet/ car enthusiast so i have driven almost every new car there is and almost all manufacturers accept American have a model with key less start. the one u see in the 2010 fit is the same as the one in some acura models I think at least it looks the same. OH and I like the look of my ssm 2008 fit better but the 2010 will probably look at least a little different than in that picture.

The C6 Corvette has key less start along with quite a few other GM cars.

Looks

while it may be quirky, its not like our fits are the poster children for handsome vehciles! But the interior is fabulous and i don't mind the exterior.

I will say that despite its more futuristic lines, it does not look as streamlined as our fit simply because of the more puffed up shape.

I wouldn't worry about your fit being 'dated' though, as it has been 'dated' ever since its introduction in the U.S. market. Now we will have less of a chance of seeing our version all the time and be a bit more 'exclusive' (well....as much as you can be in the world of economy cars. )

I will say that this fit may be a bit quicker than our version, as it reportedly only packs on 22lbs and has 118hp since the introduction of i-vtec on the l15. And good job to honda for including all the things like a dead pedal and armrest, that we sorely need. Hopefully our version will have em.

This article about the new Fit just appeared today.

Japan Today - News - Honda unveils all-new Fit subcompact

They mention four-mode "Ultra Seat" and three-mode "Ultra Luggage" storage spaces. I wonder if these are new modes made possible by having no spare tire. I would rather have the spare.

The Japan market gets a 1.3 liter engine that gets a supposed 24km/L (56miles/US Gallon). It would be much slower - but it sure would be nice to be able to purchase one in North America.

I hope they didn't make the ride smoother at the expense of handling. After a few weeks, the kids gave up complaining about the choppy ride in the back - and I'm always in the front anyhow.

edit:
whoops - better article at

I need some real details on this car. I am not satisified with the bits and pieces we have received so far. Have there been any comprehensive test from ANYWHERE!

I'm getting desperate...I went to look at a new Corolla today, and it started to look good...I left before it was too late to trun back.

Needing a fit-fix...
