Rev matching is great, once you get the hang of it. Plus your passengers who don't know what it is are usually amazed once you get it down perfect.

i do it with my AT, but we call it "blipping" the tranny. =] I love doing it for that clean down-shifting transition.

i didn't know it was possible. i thought the blip-matched downshifts in the auto/tiptronic/manumatic/sportshift/etc.. transmissions wasn't something you do. i thought it was just an ability of some high-performance transmissions?

and i think it's called blipping the throttle.

you should practice heel and toe and some double clutching if you are amazed by simple rev matching.

Well I'm not amazed by it anymore, but the passengers do sometimes.

I do it all the time, when going into and around corners. Its really bad if you like to save gas though.
I like power shifting in the Fit. Hehehe, its bad for the trans and clutch.

Rev matching is the proper way to downshift. I hate riding with people who dont revmatch when they downshift. If you dont revmatch when you downshift, you should learn how, its easy and saves wear on the clutch, plus it makes downshifting fun.
I love slowing up for a right turn, heel-toe into second from third, quickly letting up the clutch with no disturbance to the car, and accelerate out. It a good feeling when you get it perfect.

If your one of those people with the bad habit of slowly letting up the clutch and letting the clutch get the rpms where they should be try rev matching. Just blip the gas pedal to rev the engine while the clutch is disengaged and engage the clutch when the rpms are where they should be for the gear. It takes practice to know how much to rev and when to engage the clutch, but once you get that down, you'll be downshifting properly.

....why double-clutching? are you just saying that, or do you really doubleclutch? do you know what it actually is, and the purpose for double clutching? or are you calling something else doubleclutching?

fit has syncro's in the tranny... no doubleclutching is needed.... leave that mess for the semi trucks n stuff

I don't usually blip the throttle noticably when I downshift, I apply the gas exactly as I am enguaging to catch the rpm's. The only time I ever blip the throttle before I enguage is when I am acclerating hard and even then it isn't really a dramatic blip, just enough to keep the RPM's where I want it.

double clutching is a specific type of rev matching. The difference between the two is when you blip.

In regular downshifting, you blip anytime you want when your clutch is disengaged.
In double clutching, you blip at neutral when your clutch is engaged.

I do the same thing. But my reason is because of the fit's drive by wire. If you blip, the response is slow, and the RPMs dont' boost. I just leave my foot in the gas while clutching, and when the rpm is high enough, i release the clutch pedal.

Even when i double clutch, because of the DBW, i always step on the gas half way, and wait for the RPM to rise, instead of a quick short-timed "blip".

I dunno, I have to disagree a bit here. I blip all the time in the Fit and never have a problem with the response or getting a quick, smooth revmatch. DBW certainly has it's quirks, but I think too many people blame it for a number of things that really aren't rooted in the DBW system itself.

"Granny shifting, not double clutching like you should"

Anyone remember that line from the worst movie ever made, AKA "The Fast and the Furious" ?

How do you rev match on an AT (Sport, I assume)?

That movie ruined the hobby for many people, because before it was kind of an underground thing, in a way, and then everyone knew about it.
