Bummer man! Its just such a easy thing to do with the Fit, when ever i park i always try to remember not to pull up to far, and the Fits so short you dont really need to..Hopefully you get it looking as good as new with some touch up paint!

Hahahah! Theres no way to avoid hitting stuff with a front lip. Its like they were designed to scrape on everything.

The bottom of my front lip looks like sandpaper.

Sux man... I've scraped the underside of my lip so many times I've given up worrying alot about it... I do try to avoid it as much as possible though, but things happen.

What bugs me more than the scraping is the paint "chipping" away on the front of the lip itself, on both outer edge's on the front. Before I had my driver's side front end re-blended (long story don't ask), both outer fronts were down do the white on the lip... now it's just the pass. side, driver's side is starting this again though. Anyone else have this issue? And any ideas on how to avoid getting this?

I have done it too with the base, without the addt'l lip. Not on curbs, but entrance to driveways/parkinglots with a dip/gutter.

I feel for the Sport owners here for sure.

For any of the guys that have done the JDM front conversion, I wonder if that is better? Shorter front nose Vs US car, so less damage on such ground angles?

Yup! I am worried this is my first winter with my car and I have a feeling if we get much snow - I can rent the Fit out as a snow plow!!! LOL I just pray we don't get 21 inches as we did the winter of 1977-78. That is one reason
I won't lower the car - it's too low as it is.

I scraped my front lip within 2 weeks of getting the car. It's hard to see the front of the car when in the driver's seat (in fact you pretty much cant) and the lip is low, so it happens to alot of us.

Which one did you go to, the one in Avon next to Hoffman?

Their curbs are insanely high off the ground, my mom knocked the spare tire off from under her minivan while backing into one a few years ago.

I always make a point of parking 1 to 2 feet away from the concrete slab. When in doubt, I leave the car running and step out to see how much farther I can creep up, or I'd ask my girlfriend to. I look like a dork doing it but it's better be safe than sorry. I am seriously considering taking the front lip off for the winter and keep it in my room as a trophy. When the day comes I scrape my front lip I will think of this thread and take comfort that I am not the only one.

It isn't us. There's a big warning in the manual about scraping the front lip. Because of the US safety regulations, the front and rear protrude much further. In other countries with the short bumper, this is a much rarer occurrance.

Taking it the front lip isn't a bad idea.

Rich, where is this "warning" you speak of in the manual? Never saw it.

Page 146 under driving guidelines. Theres a drawing of a Fit scraping its front lip. I think someone on here has it as their avatar actually.
