Melano Red Fits
welcome newbie. red stands out more so its more of an obvious target but still a good rumor. i speed alot and cops hardley look at me in mine. ofcourse i dont do anything stupid when they are around either. haha
Welcome to FitFreak!
Red cars are known for getting tickets due to the eye catching color, its hard not to see a red car, so its hard for a cop not to see you speeding..If you drive the speed limit i dont think you will have a problem.

I also just purchased an '07 MR/MT. I don't really speed, unless I'm with a bunch of other cars that are speeding as well. I think it's safer to go with the flow of traffic, so that's what I do. For that reason, I'm not really concerned about that "rumor."
Heres my outlook on speeding.
If you speed with groups of cars theres no way you will get a ticket(pretty much everyone in cali speeds on freeways-70-80)..If you speed while there isnt alot of cars around you, or your going way faster then traffic then you get a ticket.. For all color cars!

lol i agree... i usually go with traffic... untill sum moron blows by me... then i let him get way ahead but keep him in sight... then i go the same speed i figure if hes far enough ahead... the cops will get him and not me... tis worked so far!
i got pulled over 3 times in a gray monte carlo, and not once yet in my MR fit, go figure.
there's also that rumor that your insurance is higher if you have a red car.
just don't drive like an idiot and you'll be fine

Color is just a small factor, but it does count!
I was getting pulled over weekly in my CRX just because it standed out for being white with white wheels tinted windows and loud exaust! I never broke speed limit or did anything stupid.
When I installed flared Mugen body kit it got worst, since I did not get it painted right away. It was lime green!
Tickets were for tinted front windows, no front plate, no rear plate illumination (one of the two bulbs were out! WTF!
), loud exaust,......
TOTAL BS!
I got a whole bunch of warnings for the exaust and officers did not even know the legal decibel limit! I cornered them with it, too. It got to the point where I was giving them warnings for profiling and harassment!
The car just stud out in the neighborhood!
Now with the Fit - nothing! Area grew in population and cops are busy pulling over domestic boats with 22" wheels and strip searching passengers! LOL!
On the HWY's and FWY's I put my fate in Valentine1 radar detector! 1 ticket in 10 years on 101 FWY in Santa Barbara county by Solvang! It was a trap over the crest and I was the only car there. Cop was nice and wrote the ticket for 72mph on 65mph. He clocked me at 97mph! While we chatted his "teammates" pulled over 4 cars! Team sport!
He praised my Valentine1, but told me they chose the location over the crest and Caltrans cleared the brush for them! We had a good laugh listening other driver's excuses. He was kind to me since I pulled over before he even got a chance to turn his lights on and when he came to my window first thing I sad was "You got me! I was going way too fast!". Honesty is the best policy! Most drivers deny it or start with BS excuses.
Bottom line:
-do not change lanes frequently
-don't be the fastest car
-don't be the last car in the pack (it will pull you over just because you are last and red!)
-don't peal on the street
-don't pull e-brake turns
-don't act stupid!
Take it to the track or deserted road. On deserted road never go alone. Have a friend in separate car. In case you fly off, he can get you help.
I figure there is no point in telling you guys do not do it on public roads, since you will do it anyway. At least I can point out what precautions you can take. They all came as hard learned lessons of personal experience of myself and my friends.
Good luck to you all!

Years ago my friend got pulled over and the officer was obviously unaware of the law (we knew but kept quiet just in case) - so he asked my friend if he could shine his flashlight through the tinted window, and he said if he could see "enough" of the light inside the car he would let us go, and I guess it was "enough light" for him, so he let him go.

red?
I've been pulled over 6 times within the 9 years that I have been driving. I had a Red Civic Ex (modified) and got puller over for:
-not stopping completely at a stop sign
-having blue lit side markers
-speeding
-had a Batman front license plate
-speeding again
(All with just a warning)
However, my only ticket was when I first got my driver's license and drove 3 mph under the speed limit with my Dad's 1990 blue Golf on the passing lane of the highway. After that I always drive fast.

I think it is true! I have a lot of troopers that really look hard at my car. I noticed a local police car going the opposite directions and watched him turn around and come up behind me! I was doing the speed limit but I do believe that red just has more motion to the color and it appears to be moving faster than the rest of the traffic. No tickets yet! My friend Thomas called me today and said while he was visiting family in another part of the state during Thanksgiving 7 teens got pulled over for racing. 4 out of the 7 cars were Fits! Where are these people and why aren't they on this forum! More Fits out there than we know. Thomas also told me that on his trip home he saw a MR Fit that had gotten hit by a truck. Thomas thought it was me and pulled off the side of the road to check. There are not many MR around here but he said as soon as he stopped his car a young teenage boy got out of the car so he just drove on. Said the Fit was pretty tore up.

BWHJAHAHAH!!!!!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS?? Thats freaking gold.
You: "I got pulled over today."
Friend: "For what?"
You: "Cause of my BATMAN license plate."
Friend: Faints
fits can drive fast enough to get a ticket? news to me....
jk. But really i saw a news program that found that the most common car that was pulled over was silver, not red. In fact, red was far down on the list of common car colors that got pulled over.
i have a SSM, so im a bit worried.....
