i dont usually use nav so been using the nuvi's battery-only setup the last few months. i got tired of waiting for satellites when i really need the nav on the fly... so decided to hardwire it today.

took the pcb out...

made the housing smaller and added spades for a quick tap.

finished! cant even see where the cord's coming out from inside the cubby.

so i decided to wrap the Z's roof last night and it turned out nice, but it was like a roadster look than a CF look... and it reminded me of my pop's old's ninetyeight from back 1982 with the faux leather top option. so, decided to remove it this am. hahaha. it took me a good 3hrs to install it. oh well. i think im going to recycle this vinyl and wrap my Fit's hood with it. i think it's wide enough. hahaha.

here's the roof wrap i did a few days ago (but ended up removing per earlier post, didn't like the faux roadster canvas look):

after removing it, here's where it ended up... the wrap was too small so only did this as practice.

pretty impressive how forgiving this stuff is, huh?

yah, it's a simulated CF vinyl by 3M called NiDoc or DiNoc or something. as long as you're good with a heatgun it can take out most wrinkles.

im going to get a larger sheet to do the Fit's hood down the road AFTER i get everything fixed on it (passenger side fender, wheel bearing).

Your hood looks really good. I have been thinking about doing that to mine but my GD is black and don't know how good it would look.

had to packup a few things for stuff i sold online yesterday at another car forum and ended up not having much time left for doing the template for the Z's wing. oh well.

one fellow was asking me for all sorts of personal info saying that he doesnt feel safe buying from me. wtf. i replied back how the hell do i know if you're a ledigimate buyer and not just phishing for my personal info??!! some people are just idiots at using the internet.

motored my FitS to work this am and it's a scorcher today... hot! but not hot like LA or arizona.

didnt get a chance to do the template last night as i was chatting with the wife about kids stuff. i heard something about back to school stuff under $100 will get a 50% tax break in August?? anyone hear about this? it might be just our state... not sure.

wish they would do that for all sales tax so that i would be inclinded to buy more car stuff to stimulate the economy. Hahaha.

btw, dont buy the cheapo low profile mini fuses from ebay. they are literally GARBAGE! out of 20 fuses i pulled gently on the contacts, 17 of them slipped out and fell apart (85% failure rate). at that failure out of 120pcs, only 18pcs would be 'functional.' hahaha.

those junk fuses can get stuck in the fuse box so becareful.

im going to check my other local autoparts store again.... most of them dont carry the mini low profiles for some reason though.

just a quick note on the wrap for engine cover...anyone thinking about doing the engine cover wrap should remember to remove the cover before driving because the wrap can not withstand the under-hood temps. just put it back on before your show.

didnt do too much FitS things over the weekend, but it was a workhorse going back and forth between errands.

motored the G on Sat, Z on Sun... was a hot weekend (and too short).

cooler morning this am... means more power for the FitS. drive this am was actually pretty enjoyable. nothing like having throttle response when you need it.

was driving my FitS this am and was like dang, i have a painful blister or something on my left heel. i get to work and take a look and got a dark blue bruise... then remembered i mis-stepped in my music room last night while i was doing a firmware update on one of my equipment and landed my left foot on one of my heavy duty keyboard stool/throne.

so each shift was pretty painful... everytime i had to get out of gear i just slightly blipped the throttle to get into neutral
without using the clutch. that's one less painful clutch-in.

hope to recover before the weekend cause my G and Z have much heavier clutches...
