Today was the 1st day I used the ABS

Usually I pump my brakes and everythign works well. But this lady cut across 5 lanes to get to an exit she already passed, the car in front of me (who stopped for the lady) stopped abruptly and I had o slam. I never needed to decelerate as badly as I did today. What's wrong with this lady? Why did she risk such a big accident for something so small. Plus, she already missed the exit, she could just get off the next exit. She had to drive almost backwards to reach the exit. I kept honking at her as she exited (I was parallel to her, while still on the highway) she just gave me the finger.

That's another thing i never understood. Why people give the finger if they're at fault. All I can hope for is I honked enough that she'll think about it through her day, complain to her friends about it, and look stupid in front of her friends.

people are stupid. just let it go. you drive a fun car, you are
content, you dont need to be at their level.

my abs goes on all the time...

if im braking at all, and theres any kind of bump, or irregularity in the road, it kicks on. its also a problem on the autox course. its way too sensitive overall IMO. anyone knows if there is a fuse i can pull for these occasions?

If the ABS happens too frequently, it might be because your tires are wearing out. When I noticed even in slight rain, when I do a sloooow stop, the ABS always goes on (therefore, I lied in my title haha). Check your treads. If it's flat, then you need to rotate the tires.

the abs helped me avoid rear-ending a car in front of me on an icy road this week.

i was turning right at a stop light like everyone else in front of me, all of which were turning without slowing down. all of the sudden everyone stops, to which i SLAM on the brakes, abs kicked in and i swerved two lanes over. thankfully no cars were in the other lanes.

but yeah, abs rocks

Yeah, My ABS kicks in way too often, any time I brake at all while going over a pothole. I guess the car senses the wheel has "lost traction" for the split second it is in the air while travelling into the hole. Pretty sensitive, I never felt anything like it on any other car. Took a while to get used to actually.

Felt it the day after I bought it and was like, holy $@# what was that?!

NY roads suck, we all know that. But when I'm driving over a bumpy surface and step on the brakes, my ABS acts up. Kinda like its confused and doesn't know whats going on!!

We just got some more snow here in LaCrosse, WI, and my abs goes on all the time. I don't think that I'm pressing the brakes that hard. At least I know they work. Because they work so often, should I be checking the abs fluid more? Thanks.

Abs

I am one for feeling the ABS in the brake pedal. Sometimes it gets annoying but understanding it is there to possibly save my life! Just wish the whole brake pedal didn't vibrate...and my car is pretty new with 4000 miles. Ohh well.

on early ABS cars if you pump the brake then ABS is turned off.. I tried this with the fit and it didn't work. Just hit it and hold it.. and swerve if you need to. ABS helps you keep steering control... not neccessarily better stopping power (immediate). Sure it'll stop sooner than locking the wheels but it's not gonna be magic brake on ice/snow.

But yea.. it's sensitive.. middle of summer hitting bumps while braking and you can hear it kick in slightly. Lately it's been rattling hard (black ice etc), and it is really noisy

GreekDaddy, I'm pretty sure I've seen you round JH. I'm the black fit sport with the sport grill. I've also see an orange FS in JH all the time and another TW but a base model which has a nasty bump on the rear fender now.

Uh... back on topic, I always feel the ABS kick in going north on 75th St. just south of Northern. Gawd what a messed up block!
