Questions from new fit owner
Hi guys, I recently (Xmas day) got my first car, the Honda Fit. The Fit was imported from Singapore and its done 35k miles. It is a 2002 Fit and its black with leather interior. It is an AT car with CVT transmittion.
This is my first car and as you would expect, I am not an experienced driver. I have some questions that I have in mind and I hope you guys will be so kind to help a bit.
They might be silly questions but your answers will be much appreciated.
Firstly, about fuel consumption, when you say miles per gallon, do you mean US gallon or UK gallon? The UK brocher uses UK gallon, which is about 4.54 liters, while the US gallon is around 3.78 liters.
I am currently achieving 8.4 km/l, which is, 19.7 mpg(US) , or 23.7 mpg(UK). The car is five years old, is this why the fuel consumption is so bad? I dont drive agressively and speed is usually between 30-45 mph. But I drive in 100% urban with roundabouts and traffic lights every now and then.
If there is any 02 Fit owner, it would be great if you can share your figures with me.
Also, although this may sound stupid, I dont know if my car is a CVT-7. I dont sense any ordinary 5 speed auto gear change, it is just one continous gear. (I have driven two M.Benz and one Toyota, all automatic, for a period of a month) If anyone would give me any insight into things I can check in the bonnet it would be great.
There is also one thing about paint job, there are a lot of small little white spots on my car, which is quite disturbing since my car is black. it is not obvious from a few steps away but if you look closely you will see them. I think it is just ordinary/household paint that has got on it, would it be safe if I attempt to remove them with a plastic windscreen ice-blade?
Apart from that, I have also noticed that after braking to a low speed, the engine responds very slowly, the engine seems to have a tendancy of maintaining a very low speed after braking. In contrast, other auto cars I have driven always respond quickly once I release the brake. The Fit seems to be "held back" by some machinism after a slightly sharp braking into low speed. Is that normal?
I would like to thank you for taking your time on this. I guess apart from the manual, which I dont get because the car is second hand, asking people for advice should be the best way to get more information about the Fit. Cheers guys.
