You do the math.
You miss my point: an Acura variant in North America, and by extension a seriously upmarket version for everywhere else in the world where people still don't have lingering issues with the Honda name.

I think it would defeat the entire purpose of the fit all together. And while there may compact luxury cars that are very popular, looking at their subordinate sibling (golf vs. a3, etc.) The fit still is in a niche all it's own. It's an absolute bargain for the features you get standard, especially with the sport model.
I'd look at it this way - if the desire for luxury compacts were really so high - regardless of region - then a car like the fit would never exist. And what sort of luxury could you really include in a Fit before either an entirely different engine setup would be needed or more ridiculous electronically/computer controlled systems would be need, at which point it would cease all but entirely to being a Fit. It'd be a glorified Acura compact crossover vehicle or something - not the gas sipping agile and fun to drive Honda Fit many of us have come to know and love.
I have a friend with a e55 amg and while the car is a monster, it's a nightmare in even just routine maintenance, and let's not even get into tuning...

So, in short, I'd have no interest in Acura doing up the Fit and renaming and rebadging it.
It's the same idea as people who get an IS sedan Lexus, when they could have purchased a fully loaded Camry, for probably the price of a base IS350, or less. Looks certainly aren't everything. If Acura were to ever brand their own version of the fit, I'm fairly certain the Honda version would outshine it. All IMO.

acura (as of now, not so sure in the past) the luxury of honda as
lexus = toyota
infiniti = nissan

and all the cars coming out of acura are leaning towards luxury and upper middle class. the cheapest acura car is the TSX starting around 28K.
honda's civic with no features is around wut, 15K or 16K, major price difference

i guess acura is marketing towards a different type of customer (i.e upper middle class) and i can't really see a re-badged fit under the acura name. the car doesn't fit the target (no pun intended )

Incorrect.

Acura = North America & China (www.acura.com.cn)

Also, Honda Japan plans to introduce the Acura brand in the fall of 2008

I doubt such an econobox would fit in the Acura brand. But a Fit Sport LX trim with say moonroof, leather heated seats, bluetooth, and navigation would have gotten a extra couple of G's out of me.

So what you're saying is that it would be a great idea.

I agree, but why can't honda can't think of this.I'm sure they could get it done without having the price sky rocket, specially the moonroof and the leather heated seats.

The new Fit has a Panoramic sunroof!
I wonder how much it will jack up the price!
