Honda Care Question

This is probably a silly question but if I buy a Honda Care extended warranty from collegehillshonda.com or somewhere, can I use it in my local dealership? I was going to get it when I got Fit, but the dealership was asking for $1500 for a 6 year warranty.

And are there different types of Honda Care extended warranties or is it all the same? Suggestions on where to buy? Thanks

you should be, just double check with collegehills and your dealer.
the warranty is between you and american honda, right? not you and
your dealer.

also, if you have any thoughts of modding your car, dont even bother
getting it. i never buy ext warranty... just buy, mod, sell before it
breaks.

Your Honda Care warranty will be honored at all Honda dealerships. And don't buy it from the dealership... they'll likely charge you about $1200-1400 for it. Buying it online will get it for you at the fraction of the price for the exact same thing. Dealership finance folks are shady, for the most part, and usually work you pretty hard to buy the warranty, useless shock sensor, etc.

I think I paid around $1200 for the 7/120k extended warranty. Looks to be around $900 online. I may go in and cancel it just to buy it online. I've haven't had the car for even a month yet so I should get most of it back. When I got it I questioned the same thing. I wasn't really sure if the extended warranty covered all Honda dealerships. ^^;

Edit - Make it 7/100k miles. Thats about $850 on college hills honda compared to the 1250 I paid. >< I'm definately canceling and buying it online.

The guy that sold me the car didn't try to sell me anything, just asked if there was anything else I needed. I had to ask him about the alarm (he said there was no alarm, but I know better from reading FitFreak! Thanks ) and warranty. But he wouldn't budge on the price either.

After searching around if anyone is interested in purchasing it online I think Honda Care Extended Warranty seems to offer the best pricing. college hills offers $850 for the 7/100k while Saccucci(myhondawarranty.com) offers it at $705.

Dont want to burst anyone's bubble but Hondacare is not owned by Honda or at least when my wife and I had it. I highly recomend not getting it especially if you plan to mod. My wifes 98 prelude was denied any repair because she had aftermarket wheels. BTW the tranny failed and they found there little way out. She had 17's instead of 16's and the diameter was the same. HONDACARE SUX IMO. I am a Honda lover but Hondacare is not worth it. They are not Honda period!!!

So are the dealerships screwing with us? Cause the finance guy said it was from American Honda, and all these site say so as well. :x

I can tell you from previous experiance. I will always own a Honda but I will never buy a Hondacare warranty again. When we were talking to Hondacare they said they are not part of Honda when trying to fix our prelude. Oh did i mention I was a finance manager @ a Honda Dealership @ the time

HondaCare is offered through the American Honda Finance Corporation which is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Honda Motor Co..

I'm so undecided. Maybe I'll save the money on the extended warranty and put it towards a new Fit if it starts having problems after the standard warranty runs out. Or maybe one of those Tata Nanos...

Wow... he probably won't be there long after management sees how many warranties and alarms he (hasn't) sold.

But I'm glad you weren't pressured into anything. Talking to the finance person used to mean you were just signing your life away... now you're signing your life away and going through another sales pitch (warranty, alarm, LoJack, Granitize, etc.).

Here read this also.

Forums -> HELP! Honda Care declined me!

Extended warranties are not worth it if you plan to mod your car in anyway. This means window tint also. Normal Honda warranty is very good in customer care. Honda Care FTL

Damn that link is pretty harsh. That is completely stupid to void the warranty even for a mod that wasn't the cause of the damage. I guess extended warranties are just for old boring people who just buy cars and drive without doing anything to them. :P
