Battery Cable

This is my first post on this forum. I got my Fit in June 07 and at Christmas I was gifted a VHF mobile amateur radio. I need to run a cable through the fire wall just wondering what is the best way to run a cable in a 07 Fit.

Thanks
Kishore VA7KKN

how many amps does it pull, and does it require a direct connection to
the battery (ie RF immunity)?

thinking a radio would only pull a few amps you can maybe tap one
of the interior fuses?

Full power transmit 50 Watts it shall pull 12 Amps.
Although most of the time the radio shall be used in 15 or 5 Watts transmit.
In receive / standby mode it pulls in 1.2Amps.

Direct connection to the battery is recommended for Rf immunity.

I'm going to have to tackle this too, when I install a dual bander (Yaesu FTM-10RH). On my truck I cut a small slit in a firewall grommet, ran the power/ground wires and sealed it with black silicone. I'm sure there is one on the fit that could be used, I'll have to check it out.

What antenna did you get?

Great picts seem to the only way to run the power cable.
Probably shall cut a small slit in the grommet and seal it with liquid tape.
JL my radio is ICOM 2720 and antenna is Radial Larsen dual band. I am using mag mount as I have not located any good trunk/hatch mount.
see picts of field day 07 at Richmond Amateur Radio Club
