I disagree, I think, scratch that, I KNOW the leg room in the driver seat is lacking to say the least. This fact is indeed a bummer as I really did like the Fit... for the 2 days I owned it.

I am a big guy as well (6'5" 280) and I too noticed the ankle problem with the fit. My wife wants one so we went down and test drove one. She loved it, but I did notice the discomfort. I really liked the fit too. Price, style and realibity. Thanks bkgraham for sharing your experience. A telescopic steering wheel and a higher seating position might help the leg angle.

Keep in mind not only did I own it for 2 days, but I test drove one for 2 days before that. I felt like it'd be alright after the 2 days of test driving, but after day one of owning it, my foot was killing me to the point of not wanting to drive. I think the 2 days of test driving caught up to me.

The Civic has a different layout, so while the specs don't show much more room in it, it'd definitely a better fit, no pun intended, than the Fit. While in cruise control, i can relax my right leg and almost completely stretch it out. That wasn't even close to possible in the Fit. The parking brake was the reason I initially chose the Fit over the Civic, but ultimately the parking brake hasn't been that big of a deal for me.

I've been driving my fit since this past Tuesday night and I feel like I'm getting tennis elbow or something from reaching for the steering wheel. Has anyone found a solution to this problem??
