What kind of deal did you get (Canada)?
What kind of deal did you get (Canada)?
Hey all,
Just wondering for any fellow Canadians, what kind of a deal did the Honda dealer make you when you bought your Fit?
I wrote-off my last car in an accident and haven't received my cheque yet....but went to the Honda dealer to test drive a Fit and I really enjoyed the ride. However, I'm a little disapointed at the Honda dealership as they do not seem to like to budge on the MSRP whereas the GM dealership was....
When I was leaving, he told me to think about it and perhaps they can "knock off a couple of hundred, throw in something" to "sweeten up the deal"....I hate when dealers are like that. Wish he'd be up front with me instead of making me beg for a deal of some kind.
I've heard stories of people getting various dealers to throw in things like winter tires, free oil changes, accessories, etc... but I've never heard of any deal as far as Honda goes. Anyone successful in getting a deal of any kind?
Basically, they want MSRP for the Fit Sport, which is $20,880 Canadian (excluding taxes, freight, etc...).....
Thanks!

I just bought a Fit last week (should be here tomorrow!)
Bought a blue manual LX - Paid $18,405, that included freight/PDI and a "Northern" package of rear mud flaps, block heater, and I'm pretty sure the mats too. He knocked $500 off the MSRP, and also waived the $395 registration fee. After taxes I'm looking at $19,613 to drive it off the lot.
Keep in mind that Honda Canada is still offering to match the Eco Auto program (of which only the manual qualifies): so that $19k number includes the $1,000 off the PST, but it doesn't include the $1,000 check I'll be getting from the gov't as a rebate.
Most of the dealers I talked to were willing to come down off MSRP (or throw in a plane ticket if I flew to Vancouver), so you should be able to get something off the price anyways.

Picked up my Fit this past Wednesday, loving it so far.
I managed to knock $725 off MSRP for a manual LX, but couldn't get any accessories thrown in. The dealer was otherwise great--got me my colour choice, the (apparently) hard-to-find BBP, and picked up only 6 business days after I signed on the dotted line.
My total out the door was $20300 (with PDI and taxes, but excluding registration). I'll be applying for the eco-rebate, of course.
In retrospect I should've tried wrangling a cargo cover out of them if I agreed to pay maybe $100 more; it'll cost me more than that to import a non-OEM one from Zeta Products (and I can't believe Honda Canada charges $250 for these!). I'm looking at a cheap, $20 DIY project involving a curtain rod and dark fabric

I paid $18549 for my red LX manual. Not including taxes. And that included a block heater and rear mud guards.
I got $240 off the MSRP.
But I also get the $1000 from the fed govt and 20% back on my insurance for 4 years in Saskatchewan.
Sad thing is, if you don't want it the guy behind you will buy it.
That not much incentive for the dealer to lower the price. There is very little markup on a Fit.
You can get $10 000 of of a big truck or SUV nowdays!

Thankfully we're better off than our American neighbours.
Someone visiting from Salt Lake came up to me as I was leaving a restaurant today and asked whether it was a Fit I was driving. His was considering trading in their Toyota Matrix for a Fit, and said there's a waiting list over a month long. Of course, they're charging significantly *above* MSRP--there's no shortage of demand.

See link, possibly the same dealer as we are from the same city -Richmond.

I am looking to buy my Fit tommorow (USA: Wisconsin) and the dealer told me he could "let it go" @ $15,705 (US). The other dealer a little closer to me said there was a 30-90 day waiting list.
