I was thinking about the Mugen Fit Spec D and got to thinking. If a performance-oriented version of the 2nd gen Fit were available (think Spec D or F154SC), would anyone purchase a performance oriented version of the 2nd gen. Fit? I mean, let's give a hypothetical situation and say, one was actually about to be made available with the following:
-an .5" lower, 10% stiffer.
-17x7" wheels and summer performance tires
-rear disc brakes
-a well-integrated slightly more aggressive aerodynamic kit that didn't change the basic shape nor looked "tacked on" like an afterthought.
-genuine HID projector headlights
-standard foglights
-exterior available in blue, white, and a cranberry-like red
-slightly more aggressive seat bolstering up front that hugged the body well, but didn't sacrifice versatility like a seat swap would.
-interior standard black, with red accent stitching (like Si Civics)
-turbocharged non-intercooled L15A with roughly 155hp
-5 speed MT or AT
-minus .5 mpg for the power hike
-$1500 premium over, the Sport model (let's say the Sport is the same as the 08 at $15,270); the AT would obviously add to the price.
I know the extra $1500 probably killed it for some, but considering the additions, I can't say it's not a more-than-fair deal. We won't call it an Si model. Nor will we consider the Civic it'd be priced against since the Civic is no longer available as a small four-door hatch. If it were a limited edition model like Scion's Release Series', would you consider purchasing one as an alternative to cars like the new xB or Mini Clubman S?

ABSOLUTELY!
We shopped everything and narrowed it down to the Fit, Civic Si, and WRX wagon. My wife and I both don't like the looks of the Civic and wanted a hatchback. We couldn't find a WRX equipped the way we wanted and kind of preferred the way the Fit drove.
What we REALLY wanted was a Fit Si. If we could have bought a Fit Si for $20k or so and had a K-series with 6-speed, we would have done it in a heartbeat. Instead our shopping took 3 months and we settled on the Fit with the idea that we'll make our own Fit Si.

All that sounds great but my biggest gripe about the fit had been left out, rear disk-brakes!
I would also like to add that Honda should work in conjunction with KW and offer the 5lb SC kit from the factory. That way we can have more HP, stay CARB legal, kick ass MPG, and keep our warranty

There's no choice for "maybe". Thing is, at 155hp, I can pretty much guarantee that on my commute I would not be getting 30mpg, which I am getting now. So to me the question shifts to what is the cars mpg? I bought the fit for mpg, not for performance, so while the extra's are nice, they don't influence what I bought the car for.
However if they guarantee same mpg stats then I would have to say yes, if the answer is no, then my answer would also be no.

tell ya what... response in blue....below...VVV
but since that was not the case^^^ I would have to say no
and would pass on it. but there is a part of me that is yelling and crying for yes!
-an .5" lower, 10% stiffer.
dont need that^^^ its already low and relatively stiff (put in a rear sway)
-17x7" wheels and summer performance tires
I dont care so long as its light. (but big usually isnt light)
-a well-integrated slightly more aggressive aerodynamic kit that didn't change the basic shape nor looked "tacked on" like an afterthought.
that would be nice.
-genuine HID projector headlights
not really appealing especially commanding a price hike
-standard foglights
of course
-exterior available in blue, white, and a cranberry-like red
what ever works...I am sure some would root for white again
-slightly more aggressive seat bolstering up front that hugged the body well, but didn't sacrifice versatility like a seat swap would.
that would be nice but not too aggressive (I think new civics are a hair too aggressive in that regard.
-interior standard black, with red accent stitching (like Si Civics)
YAY!
-turbocharged non-intercooled L15A with roughly 155hp
I would be happy with less even
-5 speed MT or AT
6 speed!!!that would really help the mpg thang too!
-minus .5 mpg for the power hike
NOPE! will not accept that! If the 7th gen to 8th gen civics went from 115hp to 140hp and got better mpg then I would expect the same!!! No ifs ands or buts about it!!!
-rear disks!
-$1500 premium over, the Sport model (let's say the Sport is the same as the 08 at $15,270); the AT would obviously add to the price.
reasonable if the above is actually implemented...not likely though...not even by a long shot.

call it something for heavens sake...it feels lonely

the bastards!!!

yes, yes and a bucket of YES!!!

I thought about the SC, but realized MPG could take a fairly decent hit compared to a small turbocharger. The plus side is response, but I'd expect they'd have the same low and mid-range response due to the turbo sizing.

For future reference, just answer yes or no if you'd buy it, regardless of whether you're skeptical or not. I need concrete data.

No. I love my car the way it is. If I could buy a performance hatch from Honda, what I would really like to be able to buy is the European Civic Type R. Can you do something about that?
Pretty please with a cherry on top???

I'd pay $1500 for just the turbo. The car really isn't lacking in style, handling, etc. It's just slow. I'd rather not have the red stitching. I don't know what it is with Japanese designers...it's like they think red accents make the car faster. My wife and I almost puked when we test drove the Civic Si and had to stare at those red gauges.
Thank you! is it just me or did like, 75% of everyone totally miss the point of this thread? Mabye we should re-title it : how to prove if you are competent fit-freaker who can read!
Guys, why so picky about mpg? a .05 drop? holy crap you guys are ridiculous! that is nothing given the limited-editioness of it, plus the added performance! KW's own kit averages only slightly less, and you have to take into consideration the fact that only performance minded fit guys would even bother to check it out.
at only 1500 more, it would be a steal, who cares if its realistic or not! thats the premise of the question!
i'd get one fo sho!
