My friend, you have wasted gas and money on this technique. Your tank cannot hold 11.4 gallons. You should fill your tank slowly(lowest pumpable setting) and stop at the first click.

Doing that is not recommended by Honda and is in black and White in your owner manual. You are damaging your cars tank vent system by saturation the charcoal filter. Is it worth it?

Anyone notice on a empty tank it stops filling at about 8 gallons of gas?
What is the tank level gauge reading when you see this.
At E, Below E with light on. How long in miles with the light on?
I'd say try a different gas station or if it does it at every station, your car is broken and needs to be fixed.
The most I have gone was 402 miles and it used 10.12 gal on the 3rd fill. 397 miles 39.3mpg
see red above

Thank you for teaching me, I guess you learn something new every day

So, when the gas light is on, at the first click the gas pump says 8 gallons give or take a half a a gallon you think something is wrong?

I filled up my fit when it had one mile on it and it still came up to about 8 gallons, a little less because of factory gas in the tank

By the book
10.8 gal tank
reserve is at 1.7 from empty (that is when the E light comes on)

10.8 - 1.7 = 9.1 E light to "full tank" not full tank and filler neck

9 gal is about what I see the 1 or 2 times I filled right at that point. 8 or less sounds short.

Let me ask this, when you fill to the click off point and see 8gal dispensed, how many miles do you go till the gas gauge is on the full hash mark? Mine is 40 to 70 miles and that's not with a over fill.

I pump and the med speed till it clicks off, than again at med speed till it clicks again (maybe 1 or 2 sec) and that's it. I hit it the 2nd time because I think the 1st time it clicks off is because the gas is foaming up some from the long Fit filler neck and shorting the fill a tad. I generally pause 5 to 10 sec before I hit it the 2nd time for the fuel to settle.

I do the same as pcs0snq but i still dont get as much miles as he does...and it is total miles/gallons pumped = average mpg for that tank.

Maybe that's because I get 42mpg for the tank?? Not sure what you get. How many miles from a fill up till the gauge is on the F hash line and how many MPG for a tank of fuel?

I looks like it may not of been clear on what I was talking about and asked you to tell me???

When you fill it up, no matter at what point in the tank, if it's a full tank the gas gauge will point further to the right of the F mark line.

Your gas gauge has marks "lines" at E empty, 1/2 tank and F full. If you have reset you trip odometer and read it and take note of the reading when the gas gauge is dead on the F line, that is a good indication of how well you filled. Does any of that make sense and have you noticed the needle location after the fill?

Is it to the right of the F mark, line , hash mark after you start driving?
Have you noted how many miles before it reads dead on the F mark line?

BTW I'm trying my best to help you find out why your fill is 1 gal short as you reported.

that is what i do each and everytime...i dont mess around and fill it up when it is only half empty. from the moment i got the car off the lot i fill it up till full, reset the trip odometer and drive till it is empty/lights on, take note of the miles i driven and do all the caclulations and fill it back up to empty...not over filling.

No need to film your fill up for me.
That part is 100% clear.

Try and spend some time reading the questions I asked (to try and help you). I thought it was how I explained/asked it, but it looks like you are just avoiding them and don't understand.
