how many miles do u get from full to empty light in town?

Oh, wait, I forgot to reset the trip odometer the last time.

1st tank: 37mpg (62mph on L.A. freeways, 22 mile commute to work)
2nd tank: 36mpg (same)
3rd tank: 39+mpg (60mph on L.A. freeways with 20 minutes stop & go through downtown)
The other difference on the last tank is that I drifted 1 second when available.

i top off to the top of the fill spou and i still only get a total of 240miles a tank.
How to calculate mileage
I posted that image for two reasons.
1) To catch your attention.
2) To explain the best way to calculate your MPG.
2a) The needle on your gas guage is irrelevant!
2a) The needle on your gas guage is irrelevant!
2a) The needle on your gas guage is irrelevant!
2a) The needle on your gas guage is irrelevant!
Repeated because it is important. There are two numbers that are important:
2a1) The number of miles since your last fill up.
2a2) The number of gallons you put in your tank.
Divide 2a1 by 2a2, and that is your MPG, and for this tank only!!!!! You have to average your MPG over 5 tanks full before it means anything, and that is only, repeat only, if your driving habits are the same for those five tanks.
As an example of bad practice, if I fill my tank up to the top of the neck, drive for 50 or 100 miles, then fill up to the first click, I might only put in 1 gallon. "Holy EPA, Batman!! I just got 75 MPG!" Then I drive for another 50 or 100 miles, fill up to the top of the neck, and put in 3 gallons. "Holy shite, Batman!! I just got 17 MPG!!"
Consistency is the watchword, here. Consistency in speed, weather (rain and snow lower your MPG), gas formulation (California includes more ethanol in summer), and most importantly, driving habits and conditions. Average your MPG over 5 tanks, and then report.

P.S. I got 677.5 miles on 18.0 gallons.

Please tell me that you are kidding. If not, then you seriously need to change your driving style or get your car checked at the dealership, if economy is your goal. 20 mpg seems damn-near impossible for these cars unless you are just driving the hell out of it. I'm averaging near 220 miles (245 miles for the last one) for a HALF TANK, so yeah . . . please tell me your kidding.
I filled my tank until I could see a slight pool of gas in the filler tube. I'm at 235 miles and just hit half tank. As this is my 2nd tank (first was from the dealer) I dont know how I'm doing. I'm going to assume I will get less miles on the bottom half of the tank. Most cars are like that. I will post my mileage when Its fill time.

I am at an average right now of getting anywhere from 150 to 160 miles at the half mark. However, I have noticed that when the gas tank is full then I can get about 40 miles without the needle even moving. But when it does start to move it moves quite a bit. I think it's kinda strange that during the needle moving on half a tank I get only 110 miles out of it (having 40 miles already from when the needle doesnt move beyond the full mark). So this always oncerns me about the second half but it doesnt do too bad. I would put myself at an average of 30% econ. city/ 50% econ. highway/ and 20% WOT fun driving and I get anywhere from 260 - 280 when the light comes on with all of the tanks I have filled.
EDIT: I do have a question though. Say I was driving my normal 30% econ. city/ 50% econ. highway/ and 20% WOT fun driving, and then decided I want to see how much I can get out of my car for sure. Would I need to drive conservatively for a whole tank and then start measuring my MPG or can I just start measuring whenever? (does it need time to re-evaluate how I drive basically?)
