12 gallon tank
I think this pump's flow sensor is way off in the slow flow range! Most pump's flow meters have a certain rated % of accuracy over the full range of flows (gallons per min etc...), usually the slowest flow rate gives the most accurate reading (it is why most people suggest using the slowest setting to get more gas than the full speed setting), I am no expert in this area, my guess is the regular testing for the accuracy would be at max or near max flow rate, hence they did not catch the error when someone is using the slow end. I would not use that pump or that gas station again!
For what it's worth, I've found that the Fit will consistently take-on an extra two gallons beyond where the nozzle shuts itself off. You have to pump S-L-O-W-L-Y, and don't cry to me when you develop starting/driveability issues (though I have yet to notice any problems).
I just filled my fit for the first time today. It clicked off at 8.3 gals. (shortly after the fuel light came on). I then added another 3 gallons. I pull the nozzle out slightly and watch it. You can fill it until you see a pool of gas just inside the filler tube that no longer goes down. I'm assuming that I had at least a gallon still in the tank which would mean the fit can hold 12 gallons. Not something to do all the time, but it would help on trips.
