I think the fit would take the 2.3 DX---car is too heavy I owned one and it was so slow feeling especially in the 0-4500 rpm range.

i didn't know older nissans had k24's.

i never found any k24 to be particularly torquey. Considering the h series' h22 makes the same tq from a 2.2, id say its not as torquey as some make them out to be. (maybe compared to the b series. )

the JDM h23 made 200lb-ft of torque totally n/a. now THAT is torquey.

LOL...KA24 as in KA24DE. I have one in my 240. They're rated at 160 ft/lb torque at 4400 rpm. Not bad for a car.

at the track i think i could put one in its place. 1/8 mile. the v6 accord that is

i would have to be gutted. but if not gutted then 14" rim in the front with a smaller series tire. so it can accelerate faster.

haha

Did a quick search and turned up that the 2000 Accord I4 weighs 2888lbs.

Incredible amount of weight gain over just 2 generations... Now the base I4 weighs 3338lbs. It's kind of sad how fat cars have gotten, considering there has been hardly any increase in performance or efficiency. I bet if we had fewer 5000lb battering rams on the roads, our crash standards would allow for lower curb weights.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand... I think if his car is an I4 auto, you might win if you shift well. If it's a manual, you'll probably lose. If you street race against your friends, maybe you chose the wrong car!

well, probably wrong knowing wiki.

and yeah your right about lb/hp, i knew that didnt look right. trying to write fast at work....

i'm pretty sure that it is, especially given the weight of the new accord.

edmunds lists the following specs:

2000 accord v-6 coupe: 3259lbs

so thats 17.65lbs per hp

2000 accord ex sedan (150hp)
3064lbs

so thats 20.43 lbs per hp

and 2000 accord dx sedan (130hp)

so that would be 22.55lbs per hp, making it only ever so slightly better than the fit.

I didn't buy the car to street race, more to have something zippy, efficient, and reliable. But I know it's going to come up as we're all in our mid 20's and males.

Ask any racer, any real racer. It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or 1/25th of a mile; winning's winning.

OK, to solve this once and for all I need the following:

1 Honda Fit
1 v6 Accord
1 i4 Accord
1 drag strip
1 auto-x track
1 afternoon
3 new sets of tires
approximately $600 to replace brakes
1 ham sandwich
2 dozen zip ties
1 roll of duct tape
2 fresh lemons
several quarts of kool-aid
at least 5 hd camcorders
$10,000 to cover the rest of my expenses

Who's got the supplies?
