Almost Freak Accident

I feel bad for even posting this because some fits have found their dreadful fate in wrecks.
I was driving on the 101 today on teh way to my gf's, I was checking the next track on a cd and a Nissan Frontier just STOPPED abruptly going 65mph in front of me(with no one in front of them), some primal instinct kicked in and the brakes were pounded.
My fit seriously understeered for almost 30 feet, heard myself and the cars behind me come to a halt and i skidded to the side of the road violently swerving, heavy breath followed and an instant fear of what damage could have been caused from this.
I got to her house and found nothing besides a few rock fragments, a barrage of dead bugs on the front bumper and partially balded tires.
I don't know if anyone else has gone through something like this, personally it was my first time, and last I hope because poor oro-chan would have met her fate if I had reacted even a second later.

What I am getting at is does anyone know if I should be checking for certain things caused by stress from the accident?

It should be fine, but check the rotors for warping, and just keep an eye out for anything dripping from under the car. I guess there have been reports of rocks causing damage to the A/C so run that to make sure it works properly.

Glad to hear nobody was hurt. I almost creamed a big a$$ dog at 1am last night.

Higher blood pressure, increased heart rate and respiration while driving...
...oh, you mean on the car!

If the car still handles normally, then everything is probably okay, since you didn't actually have a collision (right?). Keep an eye and ear out for any extra vibration or odd noises during the next week or two; as mentioned, checking for drips is also a good idea, so park somewhere where you would see them. It probably wouldn't hurt to have your alignment checked.

Not to be too preachy, but you should try to do everything by feel or peripheral vision in your car, a quick glance at the most. I refuse to use my iPod in my car since the radio won't control it; the good news is that a CD with 160 MP3's plays just fine. But if you can do something by feel, have at it! (Be sure to tell your gf. )

I'm glad you are okay. In the long run, that's the most important. I've still got occasional problems with my neck from being rear-ended 22 years ago, and the car I was driving at the time is long gone.

Glad you and the Fit are in good condition after that experience. Yes as above learn to do those little things without having your eyes leave the road. With the crazy things that people do all around you, even a second of looking away can get us into serious trouble. You and your Fit be safe!

I have had alot of almosts but most were from me driving home at night and almost smoking dear. I do pay attention alot more at night and this why i havent hit anything yet but your car should be fine. If your really worried about it and have access to a lift put it in the air and check underneith to see if anything is wrong otherwise the rotors and tires would prob be the only thing i would worry about. My rotors started to shimmy a couple weeks ago so i know i have to take them in and get them turned or else new rotors and pads. Good luck and glad to here you and your fit are fine.

deng. man glad your okay though..

yeah i have uh experienced something like that i guess.

after the rains in san diego the potholes that get filed with gravel basically become pot holes again.

so with the rims i have, im very cautious of the road. well

as im looking up and down frequently. a BIG f250 decides to pull infront of me and accelerate slowly. im going 55 and hes going ten. well as im trying to dodge pot holes, i try to dodge the slow moving truck that cut me off. and lets just say i slammed on my breaks and started to swerve in many directions.

keep in mind, im dodgeing pot holes heh.

very scary moment in my fit. it was either, curb my wheels/bend them or slam into the truck. or try to avoid all haha.

Nice drawing Bill.

I had a similar moment a week ago. Going down SR50 is basically construction right now. (what road in FL isnt!?)
I noticed that the left lane of the 2 is real rough from quick paves. Im driving a slow and steady 40mph with traffic. A light changes in front of me, me having enough time to brake I simply hit them. The rough semi paved roads kicked in the ABS. I couldnt stop for shat!

ABS was on tap but I wasnt stopping at all. Yes the road is that rough. I tried to get away from the roughness and went into the turn lane. Well, that was sand.
As Im trying to get out of the sand the rear end of my car starts to fish tail a tad. I end up stopping just a tad past the white line. I was slanted and the dust surrounded my car after coming to a complete stop.

It was like a commercial, too bad it wasnt planned at all.
And good thing I stopped in time. The cars proceeded to cross the intersection although I know they noticed me and my "problems."

yep, like 2 decades ago driving my civic hatchback going expressway
speeds, suddenly car infront of me swirves out of the the lane only to find
another car STOPPED in the middle of the expressway maybe 25ft
ahead of me. i had less than 0.2 sec to react. i had no time to
check the side mirror to change lanes so swirved off the road into
the grass barely missing the car. no damage to the tires.

man best forum evargh
all of your stories sound equally bad or worse than mine, so i feel a little better :3 ..then i saw the new door ding added earlier by some car :[
but still!
thankyou for your support.
i've parked her safely on the driveway to check for drips.
the only concern i had was how light the throttle felt after, im sure it was just me.
really though, who would want to hurt our fits?

ps.100thpostwoo.

Well i was in a car accident a month ago, barely got out from the hospital last week. Still in a wheel chair, drunk driver hit me on the driver's side (which where i was sitting lol) at about 60-65 mph. Well I am recovering from the accident but my Fit took a brutal hit. The airbags somewhat helped me out.
