Those who have traded a Civic Si for a Fit....
My dealer will get the 2009 Fit in Sept... maybe.
Actually they have no idea but it's not going to be anytime soon.
Between blackberry, blaze orange, and silver-
Silver is easy on the eyes and likely the most popular color, good for resale.
Blackberry pearl is hardest to keep clean and hot if you park in the sun.
Dark colors don't sell well, show dirt and water stains.
Orange is more rare a car color, has personality, and appeals to young or old.

It's an SEMA project, so expect a review. I honestly have no clue when they'll be released but I'd expect around late August/early September.
Not one. Two.
Not one. Two.
I came from a 2007 Civic SI Coupe (Figi Pearl Blue) - to a SSM Fit Sport 5-Spd.
The SI was an a-m-a-z-i-n-g car!
There was a bad 3rd gear issue that affect many owners - inluding myself. I just recently read that there is a service bulletin (TSB) out for it - which folks have been waiting on for a long time.
If you are young, and want to throw your money into a car - I say GET THE SI!!! I don't think you'll ever get anywhere close to the Si by putting mods into a Fit. The engine, and the tuned intake and exhaust in the SI sound incredible - second only to the G35/G37 in my mind. The stereo sounds fantastic, and the inside of the car has all the extras missing from the Fit. The Civic Si is one of the best bangs for the buck out there - especially if you're a Honda nut.
Do I miss the SI? - Yes. Do I regret switching to the Fit - No. The Fit is the best car that I have ever owned.
I looked though the forum at some of your posts - and it looks like you have the mod bug to me - get the Si, and put your performance money into a performance car.
HabeneroSI - remember: you have to use Premium octane fuel in the Si - which throws off your mileage comparison with the Fit. It used to be that Premium would stay around 20 cents more than regular, no matter the price. I'm seeing that change now - sometimes 50 cents more a gallon than regular. That said - I think the K20 engine has amazing fuel economy for almost 200 ponies.

Leather in mine ... interior looks fine to me..... My insurance is pretty cheap, less than 200/month with 1/2 million limits and a few tickets, maybe since im over 25. The 8th civic guys in my area are pretty good people. There are a few tools on the site, but overall, im happy.

And 8thcivic ftl. Never order anything from them. Two or three of the moderators were using overcharging peoples orders and then pocketing the money. Somebody also had his credit card number ripped off and they found it stemmed from the same guy. Last I heard, which was a few months ago, there were 8 or 9 cases against the owner of the site. But I'm glad the people in your area are at least decent. I don't go on, so I don't know anybody in my area.
Yeah, but you're an exception, hardly the general consensus. When I had mine, leather wasn't an option. I guess the 08s have it now? I thought just the EXs for some reason had leather. Probably a good thing considering one of the biggest complaints with the pre-08 interiors is poor wear and tear.

Leather IS NOT a factory option for the SI. Either the dealership, or an owner sent the car into an upholstry shop to get the leather added.
I love my fit and it drives like magic (click on my sig for a demonstration) I eat up my friend's Si in the canyon, but that's only because he can't drive. I'd honestly go with the Si if I could afford it, the motor, suspension, brakes are all excellent and the addition of an LSD puts this Si the closest thing to a Civic Type R the US has ever gotten. But since I do what I do in the canyons, its simply cheaper all the way around to own the fit (ie Gas, tires, parts, maintenance) Not to mention that the Fit is loads more practical than the Si because its a hatch.
Even if you end up spending enough on mods to the Fit to equate to an Si its still going to be a fit, which can be both bad and good. If you get your fit to perform like an Si, the Fit still has practicality and better gas mileage than the Si because it won't need as much power to get 2500 lbs to go as fast as the 2800 lbs. But it won't ever BE the Si, either. Meaning that as far as performance goes, the Si has a lot more room for improvement. The K20Z3 is a fantastic motor and is capable of producing gobs of power with a few bolt ons.
So in the end, you'll just have to ask yourself two questions: Practicality or Performance? and Which can you afford in the long run?
my 2 cents

Nope, I'm past middle aged with all sorts of nagging pains-
right elbow, left shoulder, lower back, etc.
My my kids are young and they drive the Fit to go out (when I haven't taken it myself to runaround in)

Heck, I'd drop the Fit and put on some 18" wheels, add a header and mean exhaust but then the auto upgrade police would be all over me for not adhering to the prime directive.
Actually right now I'm checking out a 1999 Black M Coupe with 52,000 miles in pristine condition with upgraded suspension, brakes, intake, B&B dual exhaust, and iForged custom 19" wheels. All maintenance done and ready to just drive. Insurance about $330 per 6 months.
For any car that doesn't come with Leather- like the Fit you can always add it aftermarket for about $1000, your choice of colors and grade of leather.

99 M-coupe sounds good. i remember d-mini-ero had one long
time ago. not sure where he went. it's a toss up for me next.
135i in black or 335i coupe in white. im probably fine with the
335i's size since im running a G35C right now anyway, but the
135i's size is attractive. i like the 335i's appearance better.
anyway, back to topic.
