New Fit, New Forum!

Hi guys and gals, I thought I’d introduce myself to the board.

I recently traded in the family car, a 99 Civic LX auto, for a brand new SSM Fit Sport 5MT. I’ve been into Hondas for 15 years and most of my knowledge spans from 88’-00’ model years. The only thing I’ve kept up on with the 01+ Hondas have been the K motors and reading about the L series.

My first car was an 89’ CRX HF in 96’. Bought a 00’ Si in 00’. That's my project / weekend car that I baby and keep the mileage down on. You can check it out HERE if you like, sold the CRX in 05' for the 99’ Civic anticipating the birth of our first child.

My wife drives an 02’ (Bugeye) WRX wagon that I’ve modded as well.

The Fit will be my DD as I don’t drive the Si much. Mods on the Fit will be kept to a minimum and my main focus will be enhancing fuel mileage.

I do plan on purchasing the JDM console with armrest, floor mats, rubber floormats for the winter, and a set of steelies with dedicated winter tires. I have a set of 16" SSR Integrals I might throw on. Other than that I’ll be pumping up the tires and driving like an old man!

The wife and I are amazed at the interior room. It seems much larger than the Civic. The extra hauling capacity thanks to the hatch is nice. We also like the LATCH anchors for the child seat, 5 star crash rating, and all the airbags it boasts. We were looking for something safer for the kids. We are expecting our second in August and feel this will suit our needs just fine. Most people go out and buy a minivan or SUV when they have 1 kid, we are having a second and go out and buy a compact!

I’ll wrap this up as it’s long enough. I hope to learn a lot here.

Thanks!

WOW! That is one clean Civic!

Buzzbomb, we are in similar boat. My wife and I are expecting our first baby soon and something tells me that once it is born I won't see my Fit!
I will be stuck with a Civic! Oh, well, maybe (and that is a BIG maybe) '09 Fit. I actually need something with AWD for skiing. I need to pick something I can leave alone in stock form!

'Tis true I was not planning on modding my fit at all, but after spending some time on the site I got the nasty mod bug bite. T1R Short Shift goes in on Friday!

Ha ha, yeah I know how that goes. I've reached a point with the Si that I can't do much more to it at the level it's at. Any more would require $$ that is in less abundance.

I've been able to turn the mod bug on the WRX. I've already put on a different turbo, up and downpipe. I have some springs, new wheels and exhaust to install and then that's pretty much done (need to stay somewhat family friendly) so I'm afraid that the Fit will be next. That's why I say I want to keep mods to a minimum. I know I can't leave it stock.

Thanks! Hopefully she won't hog the fit for baby hauling duties. As much as I'm a Honda fan, I have really become a Subaru fan. AWD in the winter is just sick.
