factory alarm???

i have an 07 sport, and i was wondering if the factory keyless entry and panic button, is only that. i heard that it is an alarm, but i cant seem to get mine to go off if it is, i have tried locking and then opening the door from an open window and nothing, it even starts still without disarming or unlocking with the remote. so this leads me to believe that it is just keyless entry. anybody care to share some knowledge. also what would be a good alarm to install, i would like tilt sensors too so they cant tow it, or jack it up without it going off. i have been seeing some horror stories on here lately with stolen fits and stolen wheels and lips, apparently our lips and headrests and wheels all fit on eg or ek civics. so be on the look out for thieving aholes. i am nervous, maybe i should have got a yaris or a scion

I don't think opening the door from an open window counts. Having your windows open isn't the most secure position to leave your Fit in. Also, how did you get in to the Fit if you didn't unlock it with the key or the remote to start the ignition?

Straight from the manual:

"Once the security system is set,
opening any door, the tailgate, or the
hood without using the key or the
remote transmitter, will cause it to
alarm. It also alarms if the radio is
removed from the dashboard or the
wiring is cut.
The security system will not set if
the hood, tailgate, or any door is not
fully closed. If the system will not set,
check the door and tailgate open
indicator on the instrument panel
(see page ) to see if the doors and
tailgate are fully closed. Since it is
not part of themonitor display,
manually check the hood.
To see if the system is set
after you exit the vehicle, press the
LOCK button on the remote
transmitter within 5 seconds. If the
system is set, the horn will beep
once.
Do not attempt to alter this system
or add other devices to it.
The security system helps to protect
your vehicle and valuables from theft.
The horn sounds and a combination
of headlights, position lights, side
marker lights and taillights flashes if
someone attempts to break into your
vehicle or remove the audio unit.
This alarm continues for 2 minutes,
then the system resets. To reset an
alarming system before the 2
minutes have elapsed, unlock the
driver’s door with the key or the
remote transmitter.
The alarm will also be activated if
the passenger inside the locked
vehicle turns the ignition switch on.
The security system automatically
sets 15 seconds after you lock the
doors, hood, and the tailgate. For the
system to activate, you must lock the
doors and the tailgate fromthe
outside with the key, driver’s lock
tab, door lock master switch, or
remote transmitter. The security
system indicator on the instrument
panel starts blinking immediately to
show you the system is setting itself."

The immobilizer system:

"immobilizer system protects
your vehicle from theft. If an
improperly-coded key (or other
device) is used, the engine’s fuel
system is disabled."

audio theft protection:

"Your vehicle’s audio system will
disable itself if it is disconnected
from electrical power for any reason.
To make it work again, you must
enter a specific five-digit code in the
preset buttons. Because there are
hundreds of number combinations
possible from five digits, making the
system work without knowing the
exact code is nearly impossible."

thank you, i guess i will have to call the dealer to find out why mine does not work. is this alarm standard factory on sport model, because i remember the salesman was telling me i would have to buy the alarm, and i only had keyless entry, but i thought the sport keyless fob was also to the factory alarm. well i will go call them right now.

I'm fairly certain it's standard. I read that from the manual and the manual is pretty specific about what is standard for the Sport (even in different regions). The difference may be that I have a 2008, and not 2007? I would definitely like an answer from a dealer and see what they say.

Sports come standard with the OEM alarm. The only OEM alarm I know of that sounds when the car is tampered with is the Mazda Protege. Theres a shock censor mounted to the steering shaft, and you can adjust the sensitivity.

If you arm the system, push the button a second time. The horn should sound.
I think thats fully armed?

nevermind im a tard, i just figured out that unlocking it with key disarms it aswell. so this time i tried with the doors locked and armed with me inside, as soon as i unlocked the door by hand, by pulling up on the little knob on the door, the alarm went off. now does anybody know of any shock sensors that could be added to the factory alarm?
