Does this Fit look like a goner to you? (SAD PICS!)
i think it was the repair needs to be within 20% of the car's value
to be totaled.
that imho will cost over $10K to repair... so you might get "lucky" and
have it totalled. i say lucky cause you're better off with a new Fit.
looking at those picts, aren't we glad our gas tanks are in the mid/front
of the car than the rear? damn...
hope you dont get any whiplash injuries later on. make sure you visit
a doc even if you feel you're ok. those injuries can pop up 5-10 days
after the incident.

Too much close-up to be sure, but I would write it off.
Some advice on dealing with insurance company. They are going to try to pay you as little as possible and that means you need to get NADA, KBB, and Black Book wholesale and retail values on the internet for an AVERAGE Fit with the same miles, model, and year as yours. Use the retail value to set the amount you expect. Don't be afraid to ask them to help you find a replacement car. Good companies will.
Finally, if the accident was your fault expect less cooperation than if it was the other person's fault. And if the other person was at fault and won't cooperate don't fail to use your insurance company. You will pay the deductible up front but can get it back thru your insurance subrogation.
The secret is being forewarned by the nada etc value of your car. If you can prove your car's interior, paint, eyc was better than average or excellent you can use that retail value but be sure you can prove it. And if you have 'improved' your car then expect extra value if its the other guys fault; maybe even if its your fault but thats less sure.
good luck.

I've had the car less than 2 months, so do I still need to go through finding out the average cost, etc. etc.? I plan on doing it through my Ins and it was NOT my fault. So won't they just give me the "total cash price" on my contract from the dealer if it's totaled?
I figure it might be easier to convince my Insurance to total it since it wasn't my fault (so they won't have to pay for it in the end) so I've already contacted them and the Adjuster coming out to check out the car is a guy from my insurance.
Thanks for the comments, everyone. On the bright side if it's totaled I think I've decided to go with the sport in the event I can buy a new one.

No, you cannot say your Fit is worth the price you paid for it just because its 2 months old. Your Fit lost 10% of its invoice value as you drove it off the dealership. (thats true of all new vehicles except rare ones.) And there is a deduction for miles driven, too. Typically 50c/mile.
In your case I'd look up the invoice on a new car like yours, take 90% of that and deduct 50 cents for every mile driven. That should be a reasonable MINIMUM to expect.
For example, if your Fit MSRP was $17.000 and the invoice (from Edmunds.com) was $15,500 and you have driven it 2000 miles the recovery value is $15,000x .90 less $1000 ( 2000 x .50) or $13950 less 1000 = $12950. Thats the real wholesale value of your Fit. To a dealer before wrecked.
Now check ads for used Fits same as yours with low mileage (<5000 mi) that you can buy
in your local paper and in Autotrader. Take a good look at them and pick out 2 or 3 that you think you would buy if they inspected & drove Ok etc. That TRULY is what you should expect the insurance company to pay. Show them what you found and tell them that is what would equally replace your FIT. Ask them to assist you with that purchase as they have an 'in' with used car lots so they can get a discount you likely won't. Since they are paying you don't really care as long as you get a accurate replacement for your Fit. In any case though you are replacing your wrecked car with a very similar unwrecked one and that is their goal also. Well, it should be. It is your job to inspect and find a replacement, not the insurab\nce company.
If its your insurance company you will have to pay the deductible (which can run from none to $1500.). If its the other guy's insurance and they will help you you can skip the deductible. Don't be surprised if they won't. (And if they don't go straight to your agent for assistance.) Remember. they are insuring their guy. If you were injured it might be another matter. DO NOT SIGN ANY RELEASES UNTIL YOU ARE SATISFIED YOUR CAR - AND YOU - WILL BE REPAIRED PROPERLY ! Your insurance agent can help you there.
Oh yes, it will take time for the insurance company to appraise your Fit's damages and for th buracracy to go thru the motions so see if the insurance company will 'loan' you a car to get around til its settled. You can ask but don't be surprised if there isn't any.
Good luck.

Otherwise the second you drive you car off the lot it drops a couple of grand
lol
hey hey.. violence is never the answer.... lo. jk you should probably just try and get his DL revoked.... pardon my french... but he ****ed up ur car.... and if your hurt... i would sue him for everything hes got... thats a bit more than an accidental fender bender... that looks to be gross neglegence...
i'd say, if they total it, try to keep your black headlights. get a storm silver fit when you get the insurance check, and swap the headlights out. but aside from that...glad to see no one was seriously injured, and i hope that everything works out alright for you.
So am I basically looking at losing the $4500 from my trade-in and down payment, having the gap coverage pay for the maybe $1-2,000 loan gap. Getting basically a check to pay off my existing loan and then I have nothing? And then I have to come up with a down payment again so I can buy the same ****ing car?
aw, sorry to hear about your accident. but hey you should definitely go see a chiropractor and don't miss appointments. it will help with any neck/back pains you have now or may have in the future. you don't want it to turn into a chronic spinal injury! and you may want to hire a lawyer so that you can get some money for all the trouble this accident has caused you.
Looks like a gonner to me. Mine was no where near as bad as that, and my insurance totaled the car. But seeing as how all of your panels are misaligned now...you're gonna need hella work to get it repaired, they'll total it.
So.... Did anything happen? Totaled or not?
Id really push to get it totaled. A car with that much damage will never drive the same. Even if its a rear impact.
I wouldnt want it.
