Just tossing in my #s on my 5AT. My first all highway trip from northeastern PA to State College, PA netted me 42.86mpg with cruise the whole way(55MPH speed limit and 57MPH cruise between Scranton and Wilkes-Barre...about a 20-30 mile stretch). The remaining highway the cruise was set at 67.

Filled up in State College and then drove another 80 or so miles on back roads to relatives and from there to Pittsburgh and back to the relatives...all on back roads averaging 40-55mph and got 36.57mpg.

I, however, did not use the same gas station for fillups so there could be some variance there.

I most recently logged 38.96 MPG using only one technique: I never exceeded 60 MPH. Normal tire pressure, no drafting, no bump starting (hey, I live in Kansas, it's FLAT here), not shutting off at lights, etc.

Probably 80%+ of my driving is highway, 90 mile round trip to the dealership 5 times a week. LOVE my car!

I have just started checking the subject out. What does that do to tire wear? Or is it just a comfort thing?
