Looking for pix of Yakima roof rack...

I'm trying to decide between a Yakima and Thule rack. I've seen good pix of how the Thule looks, but can somebody please post pix of the Yakima? I really want to see closeups of how the rack 'feet" sit on the roof. THanks!

Very similar feet on both brands. Yakima uses round cross bars, Thule uses square ones. "Rack 'N Road" dealers usually carry both.

Thanks. But I'm very familiar with both brands and I've owned Yakima for years. What I want to see is detailed pictures of how the Yakima sits on the roof. The Yakima arrangement for the Fit seems to be a little goofy and awkward looking and I want to see this for myself before spending any money.

These guys usually have pretty good prices and carry both Yakima & Thule: Rack Attack - Thule Rack, Yakima Rack : bike, ski, kayak, snowboard, cargo

Skimmer,

You may like my piece titled Hoda Fit Roof Rack Installation. Find it thru Search. I couldn't figure out how to enlarge my pix. If you write back, I will email you the pix you are looking for.

does someone have the part numbers needed to put a rack together? I found it a little confusing it does not come in kits for the car.

I had a Yakima Rack on my Yaris that I'm transitioning over to my 09 fit. It had Q towers, 48" crossbars and a Yakima fairing. I ordered the Yakima specific Q clips for the Fit. They will be arriving on Monday (12.15.08). Install shouldn't take more than 20 minutes or so. I'll try to get pics up by Tuesday. I hope that helps.

When you guys do pics could you get a headon shot of the car/rack? Seems like no one every post on like that. Usually from the side or an angle. Thanks!

if you have a gd3 its all the same stuff except it uses the Q5 clips. I finally got new clips and moved everything from my old car and it was kind of a bitch to get the rails to get to the right spot because they are kinda worn from my old car. The fitment on the yakima rack is very tight and clean. It actually looks a lot better than I thought it would. I haven't put the fairing on since its dark outside and i wanna make sure it goes on straight, but I have always preferred yakima over the thule. Usually you get less wind noise on the yakimas on most cars in past experience. Plus 60 bux for new clips versus 500 for a new rack, wayyyy better. Saved an assload of money. I have a totally different lookin fairing, its a lil bigger, knocks almost all wind noise away from the rack

Rollin' with a Thule

My cousin has a Yakima on his EK, and it looks great. I think the Thule fits the Fit quite well, especially with the fairing on Plus, you can go to REI or something and ask for the Fit kit from Thule and they'll know what you're talking about (the footpacks from Thule are made especially for the Fit). I don't know if Yakima has a Fit specific kit, so I might be boosting a moot point!

Oh yeah! The Thule rack kit looks more... technical, if you know what I mean... Say, you can compare the Thule kit to the Yakima kit like you can compare the Mugen visors to the Access visors (the mugen visors being the Thule kit) in that the Access visors are more sleek and discrete, while the Mugen visors are definitely "out there".

My old school ass yakima rack, fits like a glove. Kinda wanna get the newer visor but the old one is perfectly silent even at freeway speeds. Took it up to 70mph and at about 165 miles after half tank of gas running errands and costco run w/2 people and a dog and all the crap from costco.
